Creative Chaos – An Improv Graduation Show

The Adventure Project – St. Augustine’s home for improv – is proud to host a brand new group of improv graduates. The 4th group of students is graduating from the improv training center after attending five levels of classes. Class #4 presents a graduation show entitled, “Creative Chaos” which highlights short and long form improv … consider it an improv mullet – short in the front and long in the back!

In this spirited classic, Charles Condomine is a temperamental writer, who is haunted (literally) by the spirit of his first wife, the vivacious Elvira, after she is mistakenly summoned during a seance, by “Happy Medium” Madame Arcati. Charles suddenly finds himself in the middle of a most otherworldly love triangle, between Elvira and his second wife Ruth, as both women vie for his affections. Elvira, however, is determined to have Charles all to herself, even if it means finding a way for him to join her in the afterlife! A hilariously ethereal theater experience!

Smoke on the Mountain

Smoke on the Mountain is one of the most produced shows worldwide, with songs from hymns and bluegrass tunes. The show features two dozen rousing bluegrass songs played and sung by the Sanders Family, a traveling group making its return to performing after a five-year hiatus. Pastor Oglethorpe, the young and enthusiastic minister of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, has enlisted the Sanders Family in his efforts to bring his tiny congregation into “the modern world.” Between songs, each family member “witnesses” – telling a story about an important event in their life. Thursday-Saturday shows will take place at 7:30 pm. Sunday matinees will take place at 2 pm. Tickets to the show are $26.

Calendar Girls

When Annie’s husband John dies of leukemia, she and best friend Chris resolve to raise money for a new settee in the local hospital waiting room. They manage to persuade four fellow WI members to pose nude with them for an “alternative” calendar, with a little help from hospital porter and amateur photographer Lawrence. The calendar is a success, but Chris and Annie’s friendship is put to the test under the strain of their new-found fame. Shows will take place at Thursday-Saturday at 7:30pm. Sunday shows will take place at 2pm. Admission is $26.
