Butterfield Garage Invitational – October 2020

October is the inaugural BUTTERFIELD GARAGE INVITATIONAL. Our Time: Celebrating Women – Film & Cultural Arts Festival

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment securing Women’s Right to Vote (1920 – 2020).

This event is proudly sponsored by the Friends of the Corazon and is open

This event is open to everyone who is interested in great films, arts, and learning.

Join us as we honor outstanding local female heroes, experience extraordinary films, hear thought-provoking speakers and open our imaginations through arts, fashion and history.

Friday festivities begin at 6pm for All-Access passholders, who will enjoy our feature film, “Fly Like a Girl” and meet the film’s director and producer along with our extraordinary local female heroes during a reception with heavy hors d’oeuvres.

We begin Saturday with more great films and a fashion show sponsored by ‘The Way We Were’, featuring fashions and corresponding film clips from the last century. We will end with an Awards show for those films submitted independently. Many film producers and directors will be in attendance on Saturday to answer questions after their films. Saturday’s jam-packed schedule will also include performances and discussions with experts on women’s issues, history and changing roles through the years. Many of these presentations will be supplemented with interesting, rarely seen film clips.

Come and help us celebrate women while we inspire a new generation of leaders.

All-Access passes are on sale now at $40. This is the best ticket in town. All-Access Passholders will enjoy unlimited films, speaker forums, the fashion show, our exclusive Friday night feature film, Heroes’ reception and Saturday night’s awards show.

Individual movie tickets will go on sale in mid-March at a cost of $10. Student pricing is also available.

This event has limited seating. More information and tickets are available at www.OurTimeWomen.org.

Plan to spend the entire weekend and enjoy all that St. Augustine can offer!

First Friday Art Walk featuring Margaret Juul

Sea Spirits Gallery & Gifts is excited to feature the alluring works of artist Margaret Juul. Join us this Friday for First Friday Art Walk, February 7th, 5-9pm. Enjoy the artist’s original paintings and lithographs in addition to a stunning gallery of sea-inspired treasures!

Margaret Juul is a Florida based painter with a keen eye for design. She is interested in the movement quality of the ocean, depicted in a way that marries abstraction and representation. From underwater perspectives to waves crashing on the water’s surface, her paintings investigate the kinetic energy of the sea.

Juul’s paintings of water in motion will bring energy and life to any home or business. Find the perfect piece for your own space while they are available!

First Friday Art Walk featuring works by Salvador Dali

Lost Art Gallery is excited to feature a collection of lithographs by Salvador Dali at the December 6th First Friday Art Walk, from 5-9pm. The gallery will be exhibiting Spanish and French lithograph editions, signed by the artist. Join us for refreshments during the event to view a prominent collection of Dali’s surrealist lithographs.

Salvador Dali (1904-1989) was born in Figueras, Spain. As a surrealist painter and printmaker, Dali is best known for his explorations of subconscious imagery. From his melting clock to the burning giraffe, Dali rallied against the tradition of pre-meditated painting, preferring to draw upon his subconscious mind to bring imagery to life. Having left art school before taking his final exam, Dali estranged himself from his father and took up a fishing shack on Port Lligat. This was a location that would figure prominently both in his real life and in his work. He felt that passing an exam was insulting as a means of determining his position as an artist. As a student he developed a vast number of artistic styles and showed great technical skills as a painter.

First Friday Art Walk with live painter Lorraine Millspaugh

We are excited to feature the stunning paintings of Florida wildlife by Lorraine Millspaugh. Her work will be featured for the December 6th First Friday Art Walk here at Sea Spirits Gallery & Gifts, 210 St. George Street, south if the plaza.

Lorraine’s acrylic paintings of elegant Floridian birds are stunning creations painted with sentiment. She uses mostly acrylic with glazes and molding pastes. She specializes in White Herons, Birds and Beaches, and Sea Turtles swaying to the gentle steering currents of the sea. Her use of vibrant contrasts catch the light in her life-like renderings.

We invite you to come meet the artist as she live paints during the event!
