Adventures in Collecting

If you are a collector, fascinated by the art of collecting or modestly intrigued by the possibility of starting your own collection, we invite you to attend Lightner Museum’s inaugural collector’s forum event. Our distinguished panel of collectors will share information on their adventures as collectors alongside insights on how to expand your own collecting passion. Attendees of Lightner Museum’s inaugural collector’s forum will learn of the experiences that three prominent collectors have had as they built their individual art collections. Our Collector’s Forum will be moderated by Lightner Museum’s Interim Director, Dr. Rebecca Nagy. As a former Director of the University of Florida’s Harn Museum of Art, Dr. Nagy will add much vision to both the Collector’s Forum and Lightner Museum’s goals toward accreditation with the American Alliance of Museums. Following the question and answer period, attendees will enjoy a tasteful wine pairing reception and an exclusive look at our newly designed American Art Gallery exhibition area. Reservations are required. To learn more about the panelists and to purchase tickets visit LightnerMuseum.org

MOOD THE SHOW

Join us for MOOD THE SHOW, a night of hair and inspiration, on November 10th at 7PM at Paper Root. Mood is a platform for international artists from different backgrounds to come together for one night and celebrate their love of the craft. Founded and hosted by Push Push Salon, Mood is powered by The Salon People and set to showcase some of the most respected hairdressers and educators from multiple hair care brands, including AVEDA, Sebastian, Arrojo, L’Oreal, Cruxe and more.

The show will feature 30-minute demos from each artist offing an up-close view of their techniques and look. We want active learners, engaging interactions, and we want the audience to feel free to be as close as they want. Along with live demonstrations, there will be artist booths where attendees can meet and greet with their favorite artists and learn about their passions and ways to connect for future educational opportunities.

We are also very proud to offer Push Push Academy tool center where attendees can shop the latest tools from combs, clips, brushes, and our newest carry all utility bag. So join us for a night of hair and inspiration and enjoy the show!

Art Critique

Artists! Are you looking to get honest feedback on your work? Do you suspect your friends and family members are telling you what they think you want to hear instead of what you NEED to hear? Come to the Main Library for an unbiased and honest critique of your work, provided by members of the St. Augustine Art Critique Group.
The purpose of the St Augustine’s Art Critique Group is to help artists learn and improve their skills. Improvement occurs through self-critique and constructive group reflection of paintings participants bring for review. The group began in 1997 by Bill Leonard, one of St Augustine’s renowned artists. The group welcomes artists of all levels and using any medium. This service is free and open to the public. For more information, please call the Main Library at 904.827.6940.
