Christmas Market: Local Crafters and a Chili Cafe

The United Methodist Women of Shores UMC will hold their annual Christmas Market on Saturday, November 10th from 8 a.m. to noon. Bring your Christmas Shopping List and browse and shop all the Market Stores! The Bookstore has paperback and hardbound books, puzzles for all ages, games and children’s toys. The Crafters’ Showcase will feature fine handmade products of knitting and crochet items as well as other handmade articles by local crafters. For the home, the Christmas Shop features handmade and commercial Christmas decorations and the “This & That” Thrift Shop offers a large selection of gently used household items. As you browse, stop by the Chili Cafe and enjoy refreshments with a bowl of hot chili with accompaniments and visit the Bakery Shop for a variety of delicious baked goods and treats. The Christmas Market will be held in the Christian Education Building on the church’s campus. There is plenty of free and accessible parking. Proceeds from the UMW sale benefit local community charities. Shores United Methodist Church is located at 724 Shores Blvd, between the golf course and Hartley Elementary. Rev. St. Benedict the Moor Catholic Church, a mission church of the Cathedral Basilica Saint Augustine, hosts its fourth annual Blues Fest to benefit rectory renovations at 86 Martin Luther King Jr Avenue in Lincolnville. Don’t miss the St. Benedict’s Blues Fest on Friday, Oct. 19 from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 20 from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. where parishioners are serving barbecue, gumbo and blues! This year introducing a kid’s zone with crafts, face painting and more.

Committee Members began renovating the rectory in 2011. The interior is now complete and restoration has started with exterior work on the brick and mortar. The historic landmark building is used by many ministries for organizational meetings and prayerful meditation.

Golf Festival at World Golf Village

Celebrate the 20th Anniversary of World Golf Village at Golf Festival!

The Golf Festival at World Golf Village celebrates what makes the game great. The main day of activities will be Saturday, October 13, 2018 from 11am – 3pm. The event is free to the public. It will feature interactive activities with something for golf fans of all ages, including free admission to the Hall of Fame and putting, a Demo Day at the Slammer & Squire Golf Course, golf clinics, a kids’ zone and more. Plus, have a chance to win a car with the Hole-in-One Contest at the Challenge Hole! Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

Youth Bake Sale

On Saturday, May 12th from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Shores United Methodist Church, the S.W.A.G. Youth Group will be hosting a Bake Sale fundraiser to support their youth ministry activities, summer field trips and winter retreats. There will be a smorgasbord of baked goodies to buy: Muffins, Nut Breads, Pies by-the- slice, Dessert Bars, Cookies, Donuts, Cupcakes, Brownies, and pretty much anything with chocolate in it. Stop by for dessert! There will be coffee, bottled water and other refreshments for sale for those who’d like to be served cafe style. Bring your family and mix and mingle with new friends while trying our delicious desserts.
