Cultural Influences in the Spanish Colonial Kitchen

October 27, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm
Free

Re-enactors dressed as Spanish colonial women will describe the life of a typical woman in St. Augustine during Spanish colonial times and demonstrate how foods from three different cultures (Native American, African, and Spanish) combined to create a unique new cuisine in 1740s colonial Spanish Florida. The event will include a display of a Spanish soldier’s equipment pack, a discussion of the Fort’s role as protector of St. Augustine’s southern approach, and junior ranger activities.
