A Historical Look Into the Old Spanish Quarries
Anastasia State Park is hosting a free program, “A Historical Look Into the Old Spanish Quarries,” on Wednesday, July 10, and Saturday, July 27 from 9-10am.
Participants will learn about the coquina that was used to build the Castillo de San Marcos was and how it was extracted at the Old Spanish Quarry, which is now part of Anastasia State Park. This informative tour, led by a park ranger, will describe how the quarry was used and how the use of coquina influenced the architecture and history of St. Augustine.
This event is free with park admission: $8.00 per vehicle (limit 8 people), $4.00 per single-occupant vehicle, and $2.00 for pedestrians, bicyclists, and extra passengers.
