DESCRIPTION:Take an extraordinary journey through the art and travels of Jean Wagner Troemel! Selections include original oils\, watercolors\, alkyds\, and mono prints representing Jean’s travels and adaptations of artistic movements. All artwork in the exhibition will be offered for sale with proceeds supporting the St. Augustine Art Association Jean Wagner Troemel Award in perpetuity. The exhibit will be on display at the St. Augustine Art Association starting July 20th\, with an Art Auction ($ reservations required) and running through August 25\, 2019. \nAbout the Artist\nBorn in Alma\, Michigan in 1921\, Jean Wagner Troemel was a versatile and prolific artist whose prized works are included in collections worldwide. She specialized in landscapes and also produced over 600 portraits\, many of historical figures. Troemel was an honored Fellow of the Royal Society of Art\, London. Her works were shown in prestigious museums across the U.S. and throughout Florida\, including the Mennello Museum of American Art\, a subsidiary of the Smithsonian\, which purchased five of her paintings in 2007. She was included in the World’s Who’s Who of Women and The Directory of American Portrait Artists.\nA champion of the arts\, Troemel founded the Winter Haven Ridge Art Association in 1950\, the PAStA Art Gallery in St. Augustine\, and served on the Florida Arts Group Board (FLAG). She spearheaded St. Augustine’s First Friday Art Walks and funded the Best in Show Award that continues to be presented monthly at the St. Augustine Art Association. Jean Wagner Troemel passed away on January 18\, 2018\, leaving behind an enduring and inspiring legacy of art. \nGALLERY HOURS: Tuesday through Saturday\, 12pm-4pm; Sunday 2pm-5pm; Closed on Mondays. She specialized in landscapes and also produced over 600 portraits\, many of historical figures. Troemel was an honored Fellow of the Royal Society of Art\, London. Her works were shown in prestigious museums across the U.S. and throughout Florida\, including the Mennello Museum of American Art\, a subsidiary of the Smithsonian\, which purchased five of her paintings in 2007. She was included in the World’s Who’s Who of Women and The Directory of American Portrait Artists.\nA champion of the arts\, Troemel founded the Winter Haven Ridge Art Association in 1950\, the PAStA Art Gallery in St. Augustine\, and served on the Florida Arts Group Board (FLAG). SUMMARY:Music by the Sea Free Concerts
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday evenings are special for tourists and locals alike as the St Augustine Beach Civic Association presents the 17th season of Music by the Sea. This free\, family friend event happens each Wednesday evening starting on May 7th and continues through September 11th. 19 weeks\, 19 different bands featuring music from multiple genres of music including Jazz\, Blues\, Classic Rock\, Country\, Disco\, Pop and Latin too. The event runs from 6 until 9 PM each Wednesday evening at the St Johns County Pier Park in the Pavilion. Each week a different local eatery provides optional food service with dinners priced at $10 or less. Patrons should bring their own blanket or beach chairs\, pack a cooler and get ready to dance. DESCRIPTION:Ripley Entertainment in St. Augustine is bringing back their popular Summer Movies Series at Colonial Oak Music Park on Wednesdays in June and July 2019. Family-friendly movies are shown at 8:30 p.m. every Wednesday from June 12 through July 31\, 2019 (with the exception of July 3\, 2019). \nGuests should bring a chair or blanket to relax and enjoy these special movie showings\, which begins on Wednesday\, June 12\, 2019\, with a special screening of Smallfoot. Click here to view the full movie listing. \nRipley’s Red Train Tours will offer complimentary shuttles to the venue from the Visitors Information Center at Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum on movie nights. The shuttles run from 7:30 until 8:30 p.m.\, and will also return guests to their stop after the movie. \nAdmission to this event is free. \n
