SUMMARY:Confessions of the Corazon
DESCRIPTION:“Confessions of the Corazon” returns to the Corazon Cinema and Cafe with Uncle Eddie as our featured storyteller\, on August 29th. Uncle Eddie is one of half of the duo\, Uncle Eddie & Robin. He is a multi-instrumentalist (banjo\, guitar\, dobro) and vocalist. \nThe event is all ages and is $5 (cash only) for each person. There is room for 10 storytellers each time and it is first come\, first served. Sign up by purchasing one item and there are free refills on most beverages. Sign up at 5:00 p.m. and the stories begin at 5:30 p.m. Each storyteller receives six to eight minutes of stage time. The featured storyteller gets 10 minutes of stage time and 50% of the proceeds from the door. \nAfter each event\, the current featured storyteller draws the name for the following month’s storyteller. We’re going to try something different\, this month. Next month’s chosen featured storyteller will have the option to pick next month’s theme or keep it as no particular theme. \nIf you are an artist\, bring in your works and sell them. Let’s hear your elevator pitch. “Confessions” is perfect for all artists\, authors\, comedians\, writers\, poets\, influencers\, content creators\, entrepreneurs\, filmmakers\, actors\, storytellers\, etc. \nWe look forward to seeing you at the event and hearing your stories. DESCRIPTION:Anastasia State Park will host an Ancient Dunes Trail Hike on Friday\, August 30. Led by a volunteer\, this guided hike through the various ecosystems of Anastasia State Park\, including the ancient dune system and the maritime hammocks\, is just a mile long but is one of the more demanding trails in the park due to the sloping landscape. \nGuests are encouraged to bring binoculars\, comfortable walking shoes\, a camera\, drinking water\, bug spray\, and sunscreen. The tour will meet at the Hilltop Picnic Area near the parking lot. \nFree with park admission: $8.00 per vehicle (limit 8 people)\, $4.00 per single-occupant vehicle\, and $2.00 for pedestrians\, bicyclists\, and extra passengers.

DESCRIPTION:Wednesday evenings are special for tourists and locals alike as the St Augustine Beach Civic Association presents the 17th season of Music by the Sea. This free\, family friend event happens each Wednesday evening starting on May 7th and continues through September 11th. 19 weeks\, 19 different bands featuring music from multiple genres of music including Jazz\, Blues\, Classic Rock\, Country\, Disco\, Pop and Latin too. The event runs from 6 until 9 PM each Wednesday evening at the St Johns County Pier Park in the Pavilion. SUMMARY:Butterfield Garage’s September Feature Artist Dee Roberts Paints it All!
DESCRIPTION:Dee is highly recognized for her diverse skills as an artist. An Artist Talk\, First Friday September 6\, at 6pm is an opportunity to hear Dee’s talk about her processes. \nDee Roberts goal as an artist is to catch the spirit of what she sees\, in abstract form as well as through naturalistic wildlife drawings. And catch it she does\, regardless of the medium. She works with pastels\, watercolor\, collage and acrylic\, garnering many top awards around Florida and Georgia with all of them. Dee consistently surprises the viewer with the strength and confidence of her work. With minimal brushstrokes her subjects come to life\, seemingly ready to jump off the canvas. \nIn Jacksonville\, Dee had a two person show at the Cummer and has art in the permanent collections of the University of North Florida and St Johns Country Day School\, and AT & T. Her work has been included in many juried shows at Jacksonville University\, Florida State College at Jacksonville\, the University of North Florida\, the Karpeles Museum\, the Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens and the Jacksonville Art Museum . She was included in an international exhibit held by the National Watercolor Society and the International Collage Society. She has received signature status with the Florida Watercolor Society. Dee has been awarded many prizes in shows at the St. Augustine Art Association as well as receiving special awards at their annual Honors Show: the Brian Wolfe Award for best painting\, the Ann James Prize for Best Pastel Portrait\, and Best in show. \nThis year Dee received the prestigious Carl Steinsieck Award in St Augustine’s Figure show. She enjoys participating in the Art Guild of Orange Park\, the Society of Mixed Media Artists and the Jacksonville Watercolor Society. Dee was part of an Abstract Show at the Jacksonville International Airport in 2017 and is currently in a three person show at Southlight Gallery is Jacksonville. Roberts has had notable solo shows at various galleries as well as St Johns Country Day School and the Thrasher Horne Center for the Performing Arts. \nDee was born in Pennsylvania and received a scholarship to the Philadelphia College of Art. After she married and moved to Florida she continued to study\, taking courses with Louise Freshman Brown and workshops with Mary Whyte\, Mort Solhberg and George James.\nBe sure to visit Butterfield Gallery and take in the wonderful work of Dee Roberts.
