SUMMARY:Steve Earle & The Dukes “30th Anniversary of Copperhead Road Tour” with The Mastersons
DESCRIPTION:Steve Earle & The Dukes have announced spring tour dates in support of Copperhead Road’s 30th anniversary. Earle will be performing Copperhead Road in its entirety and the live set will also include songs from his new album\, So You Wanna Be an Outlaw\, which Rolling Stone hailed as “an intensely raw and often delightfully clamorous nod to the fellow outliers the young Texan gravitated toward when he arrived in Nashville in 1974.” \nCopperhead Road is Earle’s third studio album and often referred to as his first “rock record.” The New York Times listed it as one of its recommended “Sounds Around Town” the week it was released and Time Magazine included it in their Critics Choice of the year. Rolling Stone has listed it as one of “50 Country Albums Every Rock Fan Should Own\,” and said it “established Earle as country’s left-wing conscience.” \nABOUT STEVE EARLE: \nThree-time GRAMMY Award recipient and 14-time GRAMMY nominee Steve Earle is a cornerstone artist of Americana music. One of the most acclaimed singer-songwriters of his generation\, he has released 16 albums. His songs have been recorded by such music legends as Johnny Cash\, Emmylou Harris\, Carl Perkins\, Waylon Jennings\, Vince Gill\, and Joan Baez. He has created such country classics as “When You Fall in Love\,” “Guitar Town\,” “Goodbye’s All We’ve Got Left\,” “A Far Cry From You\,” and “Nowhere Road.” \nAlways musically adventurous\, Earle has crafted folk\, blues\, rock\, country\, rockabilly\, and bluegrass recordings. His diverse collaborators have included such notables as The Pogues\, Lucinda Williams\, Patti Smith\, The Fairfield Four\, The Indigo Girls\, Chris Hillman\, Sheryl Crow\, and Shawn Colvin. He is a longtime social and political activist whose causes have included the abolition of the death penalty and the removal of the Confederate symbol from the Mississippi State flag. \nA true Renaissance man\, Earle has also become a novelist\, a film\, TV\, and stage actor\, playwright\, author\, record producer\, and radio host over the course of his 30+ year career. Earlier this year\, he appeared in the off-Broadway play Samara\, for which Earle also wrote the score that The New York Times called “exquisitely subliminal.” He is also in the process of writing his memoirs for future publication. Tune in to Steve Earle’s weekly radio show “Hardcore Troubadour” on SiriusXM’s Outlaw Country Channel.

SUMMARY:Chad Prather “Star Spangled Banter Comedy Tour”
DESCRIPTION:Chad Prather was entertaining audiences on television as early as two years old. The desire to be onstage started early. He began acting at the age of six and by the age of 20\, he was traveling all over the world – from Africa to Southeast Asia\, from Russia to Central America – using his communication skills to influence international leaders with humor and inspiration. Back home in America as “the preacher that makes everyone laugh\,” he was leading churches and non-profit organizations. Eventually Prather’s communication skills opened doors for him to move into the corporate arena of motivational speaking and writing. \nPrather is known for his way with words. He is a comedian\, armchair philosopher\, musician and observational humorist. He is often referred to as “the modern day Will Rogers.” He is a fast-talking combination of Lewis Grizzard and Jeff Foxworthy. Originally from Augusta\, GA\, Chad now calls the Fort Worth\, TX area his home. He grew up working with horses (an industry he is actively involved in) and is often recognized by his ever-present cowboy hat. His social media viral video views are counted in the hundreds of millions. Many recognize him from his fast-talking\, rapid fire rants from the front seat of his truck. CNN has labeled him the “Pick-up Pundit” and Fox News’ Tucker Carlson has called Prather “supernaturally articulate.” And he is known for his comedic family stories told from an adult perspective onstage. \nPrather has made numerous appearances on Fox News\, CNN\, A&E\, The Blaze\, MSN and has been featured in magazines from Southern Living to Nash Country Weekly. He is the host of Ride TV’s “It’s My Backyard;” and his 2016 “Kings of Cowtown Comedy Tour” was wildly successful. Prather has sold-out theatres all over America and is one of the country’s fastest rising and talked about comedians and entertainers. \nPlease note\, this show contains mature content and may not be suitable for younger audiences.

SUMMARY:Buckethead
DESCRIPTION:Buckethead is a virtuoso guitarist and multi-instrumentalist who performs within many genres of music. He has released over 300 studio recordings\, way more than anyone else in the history of music. He released 178 “pikes” in the 2014 – 2015 period alone. He has also performed on over 50 more albums by other artists. His music spans such diverse areas as progressive metal\, funk\, blues\, jazz\, bluegrass\, and avant-garde music. \nWhen performing in his theatrical persona\, Buckethead used to wear a KFC bucket on his head\, emblazoned with an orange bumper sticker that reads “FUNERAL” in capital black block letters\, and an expressionless plain white costume mask. More recently\, he has switched to a plain white bucket no longer bearing the KFC logo. He also incorporates nun chucks\, robot dancing\, and toy trading into his stage performances. Buckethead’s persona represents a character that was “raised by chickens” and has made it his “mission in life to alert the world to the ongoing chicken holocaust in fast-food joints around the globe.” \nAn instrumentalist\, Buckethead is best known for his electric guitar playing. He has been voted #8 on a list in GuitarOne magazine of the “Top 10 Greatest Guitar Shredders of All Time” as well as being included in Guitar World’s lists of the “25 all-time weirdest guitarists” and is also known for being one of the fastest guitar players on planet earth. He’s also an amazing bass player and an overall amazing live performer. \nBuckethead has most recently performed as a solo artist although he has collaborated with many high-profile artists such as Bill Laswell\, Les Claypool\, Bernie Worrell\, Iggy Pop\, Serj Tankian\, Mike Patton\, Viggo Mortensen\, Brain\, and tons more.

SUMMARY:Oh Wonder with guest Astronomyy
DESCRIPTION:In an era in which pop careers require careful planning\, Oh Wonder is an anomaly. They’re a band formed by accident not design\, a duo who didn’t intend to play live but spent more than a year touring the world\, and a major label act who never saw this being anything other than a DIY project. \nClassically trained pianist and violinist Josephine Vander Gucht was about to begin a career in law when she met Anthony West\, a producer and former member of a rock band\, in a south London studio. He offered to produce some of her songs\, but the moment they started working together\, something clicked. Or as Anthony recalls it\, “stars collided.” Anthony’s background in arranging and production – no less than the legendary Gil Norton had advised him to become a producer – complimented Josephine’s classical training and songwriting skills. Their voices in unison were spellbinding. They were better at writing lyrics together than they had been apart. \nUltralife is both Oh Wonder’s extraordinary second album and their debut proper. Its eponymously-titled predecessor\, released in late 2015\, was a collection of songs they had posted online at the rate of one a month\, which millions of listeners fell in love with\, turning the London-based duo into reluctant pop stars. \nThree months into their song-a-month challenge\, they had established an international audience who were attentively awaiting new music on the first of each month. As their success snowballed\, labels came calling\, but they refused to sign. By the time some of their songs had racked up tens of millions of plays\, the pair finally conceded that they were a band. After self-releasing 15 of their songs as an album\, Oh Wonder bowed to pressure to play live\, booking just four shows – in London\, Paris\, New York and L.A. – planning to head straight back to the studio they’d built in a room at the bottom of Josephine’s parents’ garden. When all four gigs sold out within a week they were inspired to tour. It culminated in 162 shows in 14 months across 112 cities. Along the way\, Oh Wonder’s songs became soundtrack staples\, featuring everywhere from Scream\, Elementary and Made in Chelsea to Catfish\, Collide and Coronation Street. The dreamy “Drive” was used in the pilot for the BBC’s hit show Doctor Foster. “All We Do” was the spectral theme tune for Unforgotten\, ITV’s acclaimed detective series. \nThe perennial underdog might just be about to become the odds-on favorite. Written in New York and London and entirely composed\, produced and mixed by the duo\, Ultralife takes the hallmarks of the band’s experimental debut – its hypnotic dual vocals\, its exposed\, emotional lyrics\, its bewitching\, ethereal beauty – and adds the weight of experience\, the confidence of success and the coherence that comes from forward planning. \nPresented in partnership with JaxLive.

SUMMARY:Bahamas
DESCRIPTION:Bahamas is the solo project of Toronto-based guitarist and musical gun-for-hire Afie Jurvanen. With a carefully trained ear for melody that he’s honed during his time playing with the likes of Feist and Howie Beck\, Jurvanen’s solo project has a stripped-down and contemplative sound that focuses on doing more with less\, allowing his voice and guitar to do most of the heavy lifting on his quiet indie folk meditations. Bahamas will release his fourth studio album\, Earthtones on January 19\, 2018. Below is an excerpt from Bahamas’ handwritten description of Earthtones. \nTo whom it may concern\,\nRe: BAHAMAS EARTHTONES \nEarthtones is the newest and totally most best album yet from Bahamas\, aka me\, Afie Jurvanen. I wasn’t feeling too inspired in 2016. I’d been in a seemingly unbroken cycle of recording and touring for 6 years. I know\, you’re saying to yourself “that’s so cliche\, all musicians complain about being tired…” But wait\, there’s more! Not knowing exactly what type of album to make\, I was feeling pretty low. But at that very moment\, my longtime manager and confidante Robbie Lackritz called and said “dude\, you should make an album with D’angelo’s rhythm section.” And just like that\, the juices were flowing and the songs started coming. I wrote songs about having success\, having kids\, and having depression. I wrote songs about going on tour\, going back in time and going in circles. I wrote songs about my otherworldly wife\, my jerk dad and my garbage relationship with my brother. Crazy right?! In Sept of 2016 I flew to Los Angeles and spent three days in the studio with the bass boss Pino Palladino and the titan of time keeping\, Mr. James Gadson. No rehearsals\, no charts\, no rules. We worked fast and came away with 10 songs that sounded fresh and strange and warm and free of any genre. The results were so inspiring to me that I quickly pulled my road band (Felicity Williams\, Christine Bougie\, Darcy Yates\, Jason Tait\, Don Kerr) into a Prague studio to record a few more songs. And here’s the best part… the whole thing is produced by my longtime producer and confidante Robbie Lackritz\, so you know the sound is correct\, totally modern and completely familiar at the same time. Whoa! I know! You’re saying to yourself “wait what? The same Robbie from earlier??” Yes! It’s a story about friendship come full circle\, and how great it is to have someone in your life that can lift you up when you’re feeling down. It’s a very positive album about having a joie de vivre for the joys of life. Okay\, full disclosure… there’s a few slow jams too… Hope you enjoy the music as much as I enjoyed making it.\nSincerely\, Afie Jurvanen \nps. see below for super important stats about awards\, sales\, streaming and all that business stuff that you probably see all the time.\n– Multiple Juno award nominations. – Juno wins for Songwriter of the Year and Adult Alt Album of the year 2015. – A streaming juggernaut who averages over 1.6 million monthly streaming listeners\, “All The Time” generated a staggering 32 million streams and counting as “Stronger Than That” cracked 9 million. – Don’t even get me started on Lost in the Light… – So far 0.00 users on Tidal. – Received an honorary high school diploma from Barrie Central Collegiate in 2016. – Successfully landed a kickflip in front of Jack Johnson\, earning a “right on dude.” – Afie is currently planning on winning the polaris prize in 2018 and he would appreciate it if the Juno’s could change their rules about landed immigrants and just give Robbie one already. \nPresented in partnership with Flying Saucer Presents.

SUMMARY:An Evening with the Marc Cohn Trio
DESCRIPTION:“Marc Cohn is as real as you can get in this crazy world of songwriting … his lyrics and melodies strike straight at the heart and soul of the listener. The world is a better place because of Marc’s music.” – Graham Nash \nAfter winning a GRAMMY for his soulful ballad “Walking in Memphis\,” Marc Cohn solidified his place as one of this generation’s most compelling singer/songwriters\, combining the precision of a brilliant tunesmith with the passion of a great soul man. He’s a natural storyteller\, balancing the exuberant with the poignant\, and able to distill universal truth out of his often romantic\, drawn-from-life tales. \nCohn followed up his platinum-selling debut with two more releases in the 1990s\, at which point TIME magazine called him “one of the honest\, emotional voices we need in this decade” and Bonnie Raitt declared\, “Marc is one of the most soulful\, talented artists I know. I love his songs\, he’s an incredible singer\, and I marvel at his ability to mesmerize every audience he plays for.” \nRaitt\, James Taylor\, David Crosby\, Graham Nash and Patty Griffin all made guest appearances on Cohn’s early records for Atlanta\, as his reputation as an artist and performer continued to grow. In 1998\, Cohn took a decade-long sabbatical from recording\, ending in 2007 with Join the Parade. Inspired by the horrific events following Hurricane Katrina and his own near fatal shooting just weeks before\, Parade is his most moving and critically acclaimed record to date. \nAbout his album Listening Booth: 1970\, a collection of reimagined classics from that seminal year in music\, Rolling Stone said\, “Cohn has one of rock’s most soulful croons – a rich immediately recognizable tenor that makes these songs his own.” In late 2014\, Cohn released\, “The Coldest Corner in the World\,” the title song to the documentary Tree Man and his first original song released in more than seven years.\nOn March 25\, 2016\, in celebration of the 25th anniversary of his platinum-selling debut album\, Marc proudly released Careful what You Dream: Lost Songs and Rarities and the bonus album\, Evolution of a Record\, featuring never-before-heard songs and demos dating back to years before his debut album and the Grammy Award that followed.

SUMMARY:The Paul Thorn Band with guest Heather Lee & Jordan Wynn
DESCRIPTION:“This is the culmination of my whole life in music\, coming back to my gospel roots\,” says Paul Thorn about his newest album\, Don’t Let the Devil Ride. “My message on this record is ‘let’s get together’—I want to help lighten your load and make you smile.” \nThe son of a preacher man\, Mississippi-raised Thorn spent much of his childhood in church\, participating in multiple weekly services with his father as well as at neighboring African American congregations\, where he became entranced with the music whose infectious spirit is captured on the new album. Don’t Let the Devil Ride collects soulful songs originally cut by black southern gospel groups\, and features guests Blind Boys of Alabama\, the McCrary Sisters\, the Preservation Hall Jazz Horns\, and Bonnie Bishop. \nThe album was recorded at three temples of sound: the Sam C. Phillips Recording studio\, whose namesake gave another son of Tupelo his start; at FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals\, where Thorn worked as a songwriter for legendary producer Rick Hall early in his career; and at Preservation Hall\, where horn players from the celebrated jazz venue lent songs a New Orleans vibe. The new release marks Thorn’s first time recording gospel music\, after a dozen albums in roots-rock mode\, though his upbringing has previously been reflected in his creation of a body of strikingly original songs. In his own songwriting\, Thorn often addresses the foibles of human relationships\, although he doesn’t favor the sacred over the profane. \nAs an accomplished painter\, former professional boxer\, and seasoned skydiver\, Thorn has never shied away from new challenges\, but cutting a gospel record was just like going home. Thorn’s father Wayne was a bishop in the Church of God of Prophecy\, a Pentecostal denomination\, and Thorn was just three when he began singing and playing tambourine at services. Congregational participation was valued more than skilled soloists\, and Thorn also found a showcase for his talents at Saturday night “singings.” But his most memorable musical experiences were at an African American branch of his father’s church\, the Okolona Sunrise Church of Prophecy. “There might be ten people playing the tambourine\, but the rhythm was locked in\, and they’d let me play bass. I loved the Appalachian gospel of my parents’ church\, but it was a treat to play with those musicians. They worshiped in a different way and the music was different\, and I feel blessed to have been in that church setting.” \nThorn’s parents wouldn’t allow him listen to secular music at home (in his teens\, he had to hide his only two LPs – Elton John and Huey Lewis – from his father)\, so he listened at friends’ houses to Kiss\, Peter Frampton and the bawdy “chitlin’ circuit” comedy albums that he credits with inspiring the dark sense of humor that pervades his lyrics. But gospel music remains Thorn’s most abiding musical touchstone\, the sounds that first stirred his soul. \nThorn possessed the ability to charm an audience right from the start. Not only with his music\, but with the stories he tells from the stage. “Showmanship is a dying art that I learned from watching Dean Martin on TV when I was a kid\,” Thorn explains. “He could tell little jokes and then deliver a serious song\, then make you laugh again. And he would look into the camera like he was looking right at you through the TV. That’s what I want to do — make people feel like I’m talking directly to them.” \n“Collaborating and curating are at the heart of all that we do. Whether it’s writing music\, raising children\, or working with our community\, our goal is to honor those who have come before us by inspiring those who surround us.” Husband and wife\, Heather Lee & Jordan Wynn\, have been creating and performing music together for more than 10 years. \nPresented in partnership with Flying Saucer Presents.

She burns to be both cool and kind\, but doesn’t know yet how to be both at the same time. Fierce sense of right and wrong\, keen sense of ironic humor. Thinks she’s an old soul\, but she’s still innocent enough to be blindsided by love/hormones (or shocked by cruelty). Voice: High belting required\, up to Ab. Must have dynamic and stylistic range.\nJD – 17. He is darkly charismatic\, compelling\, attractive\, charming on the outside yet very damaged on the inside. Keen smarts and strong inventive comedy. Voice: Strong\, confident belt to at least an Ab\, A preferable; wide emotional range. \nHEATHER CHANDLER – 17. Richest\, hottest\, most magnetic\, cruelest girl in town. Ram’s Dad: Former football player turned suburban Dad\, has never outgrown his glory days in high school. Hates weakness\, but capable of soul-searching when tragedy strikes. Also plays Big Bud Dean: JD’s single Dad. Big jolly personality that barely conceals the enormous rage bubbling just below the surface. Quite possibly a serial bomber. Also plays Coach Ripper: Stalwart\, man’s man; quick to defend his players. Voice: Baritone/Tenor – power Country/Gospel belt to Ab\, higher welcome. NOTE: Sometimes this actor has played Principal Gowan instead of Big Bud/Coach. \nMS. FLEMING / VERONICA’S MOM – 45 to 50. Ms. Fleming: Aging hippie teacher\, still yearning for the day the Age of Aquarius reaches Ohio. Hungry for the spotlight\, resentful of entitled youth. Kurt’s Dad: Straight-laced\, very conservative\, also former football player. A simple guy\, not book smart\, you’d be happy to share a beer with him. SUMMARY:Thespian\, Arrested: A Comedic Documentary
DESCRIPTION:Hilarity ensues when Shari\, drama teacher\, is arrested for being a Thespian. This is a comedentary (comedic documentary) of a true and wild story about unjust arrest. \nYou can’t make this stuff up! This is a story that begs to be told not just orally\, or in writing\, but in theatrical form. \nThe events of the play are true\, with just the right amount of artistic license. The story feels like a Seinfeld episode\, but instead of it being “a show about nothing\,” the show is about how being in the wrong place\, at the wrong time\, can lead to dire consequences. However\, be prepared to laugh at verbal\, physical\, and situational comedy! \n“It’s all about the people\,” said playwright Shari Little\, a St. Augustine resident encouraged by friends to write a play about her unjust arrest more than 20 years while taking her drama students to a state Thespian event in Miami.
