DESCRIPTION:Anastasia State Park will host an Ancient Dunes Trail Hike on Friday\, August 30. Led by a volunteer\, this guided hike through the various ecosystems of Anastasia State Park\, including the ancient dune system and the maritime hammocks\, is just a mile long but is one of the more demanding trails in the park due to the sloping landscape. \nGuests are encouraged to bring binoculars\, comfortable walking shoes\, a camera\, drinking water\, bug spray\, and sunscreen. The tour will meet at the Hilltop Picnic Area near the parking lot. \nFree with park admission: $8.00 per vehicle (limit 8 people)\, $4.00 per single-occupant vehicle\, and $2.00 for pedestrians\, bicyclists\, and extra passengers.

DESCRIPTION:“Confessions of the Corazon” returns to the Corazon Cinema and Cafe with Uncle Eddie as our featured storyteller\, on August 29th. Uncle Eddie is one of half of the duo\, Uncle Eddie & Robin. He is a multi-instrumentalist (banjo\, guitar\, dobro) and vocalist. \nThe event is all ages and is $5 (cash only) for each person. There is room for 10 storytellers each time and it is first come\, first served. Sign up by purchasing one item and there are free refills on most beverages. Sign up at 5:00 p.m. and the stories begin at 5:30 p.m. Each storyteller receives six to eight minutes of stage time. The featured storyteller gets 10 minutes of stage time and 50% of the proceeds from the door. \nAfter each event\, the current featured storyteller draws the name for the following month’s storyteller. We’re going to try something different\, this month. Next month’s chosen featured storyteller will have the option to pick next month’s theme or keep it as no particular theme. \nIf you are an artist\, bring in your works and sell them. Let’s hear your elevator pitch. “Confessions” is perfect for all artists\, authors\, comedians\, writers\, poets\, influencers\, content creators\, entrepreneurs\, filmmakers\, actors\, storytellers\, etc. \nWe look forward to seeing you at the event and hearing your stories. DESCRIPTION:Take an extraordinary journey through the art and travels of Jean Wagner Troemel! Selections include original oils\, watercolors\, alkyds\, and mono prints representing Jean’s travels and adaptations of artistic movements. All artwork in the exhibition will be offered for sale with proceeds supporting the St. Augustine Art Association Jean Wagner Troemel Award in perpetuity. The exhibit will be on display at the St. Augustine Art Association starting July 20th\, with an Art Auction ($ reservations required) and running through August 25\, 2019. \nAbout the Artist\nBorn in Alma\, Michigan in 1921\, Jean Wagner Troemel was a versatile and prolific artist whose prized works are included in collections worldwide. She specialized in landscapes and also produced over 600 portraits\, many of historical figures. Troemel was an honored Fellow of the Royal Society of Art\, London. Her works were shown in prestigious museums across the U.S. and throughout Florida\, including the Mennello Museum of American Art\, a subsidiary of the Smithsonian\, which purchased five of her paintings in 2007. She was included in the World’s Who’s Who of Women and The Directory of American Portrait Artists.\nA champion of the arts\, Troemel founded the Winter Haven Ridge Art Association in 1950\, the PAStA Art Gallery in St. Augustine\, and served on the Florida Arts Group Board (FLAG). She spearheaded St. Augustine’s First Friday Art Walks and funded the Best in Show Award that continues to be presented monthly at the St. Augustine Art Association. Jean Wagner Troemel passed away on January 18\, 2018\, leaving behind an enduring and inspiring legacy of art. \nGALLERY HOURS: Tuesday through Saturday\, 12pm-4pm; Sunday 2pm-5pm; Closed on Mondays.
