DESCRIPTION:First Coast Opera and A Classic Theatre are collaborating to bring northeast Florida audiences an exciting new production which includes a world premiere! The two companies will present seven performances of Cox and Box and Penelope Ann’s Revenge\, two British farce operettas\, during the Romanza Festivale of the Arts in May. Show times are 7:30 p.m. May 4-8; and 2 p.m. May 8-9 at the Lincolnville Museum and Cultural Center in historic St. Augustine\, Florida. Tickets can be purchased online at www.aclassictheatre.org/tickets \nComposed by Arthur Sullivan\, of Gilbert and Sullivan fame\, Cox and Box is a Victorian farce in which two gentlemen unknowingly rent and live in the same apartment. When the landlord’s ruse is uncovered\, Mr. Cox and Mr. Box discover that they share other things\, including a past fiancée\, Penelope Ann. \nThe story continues\, ten years later\, in Penelope Ann’s Revenge\, a sequel by First Coast Opera Artistic Director Curtis Tucker and Nelson Sheeley\, receiving its world premiere. In the new operetta\, Penelope Ann returns to put the two men in their proper places. Apparent conflict turns to happy ending with a few topsy-turvyt wists throughout. \nThe cast consists of Tyler Putnam as Cox\, Curtis Tucker as Box\, Jason Whitfield as Bouncer\, Sarah Nordin as Lydia and Catherine Ortega Spitzer as Penelope. DESCRIPTION:St. Augustine’s second annual Brewers’ Festival will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday\, May 8\, 20201 at the beautiful Fountain of Youth Archeological Park\, 11 Magnolia Ave. The festival will include free tastings from 20+ regional breweries\, local food trucks\, face painting and live music; all while enjoying one of St. Augustine’s most scenic and historical locations. Tickets will be available starting March 1 at stabrewersfest.com \n“We are focused on smaller independent breweries in and around our region. Each attending brewery is encouraged to not only bring a unique offering but a true brewery representative to share insights to their creations and answer all of your questions. This is a great opportunity to try small batch beers right in your backyard\,” said organizers. \nIn addition to the regional brewers\, four of St. Augustine’s breweries will be part of the event — Bog Brewing Company\, Dog Rose Brewing Co.\, Ancient City Brewing and Old Coast Ales. \nUnlimited beer tastings from the craft breweries will be the highlight of the second annual St. Augustine Brewers’ Fest. Each ticketholder will receive a commemorative 6-ounce tasting glass. \nFood will be available from three favorite local trucks — Wingin’ It\, Funkadelic\, and El Agave Azul. Being true to a community event\, family-friendly activities include face painting and plenty of space for kids to run around. Merchandise for sale during the event will include T-shirts\, koozies\, and hats\, all created by Skinny Lizard T-shirt Printers. . and Keepers of the Coast will sponsor a water bottle refill station. \nGeneral admission is $40 in advance and $45 the day of the event. A limited number of VIP tickets at $100 each will be available in advance. VIP tickets include guaranteed on-site parking\, access to the climate-controlled pavilion\, private restrooms\, a catered buffet\, a festival tasting glass\, and full festival access. Designated drivers can attend at no charge. DD bracelets will be when arriving at the event. You’re drawn into a dangerous world where freedom seekers flee from enslavement on English plantations\, hoping to live as free men\, women\, and children at Fort Mose. \nThe Flight to Freedom event is open to the general public at no cost. The Lightner Museum will also be continuing to show the exhibit St. Augustine in a New Light: American Impressionism from the Collection of the Lightner Museum. This exhibit is drawn from the collection of the Lightner Museum and includes more than 20 American Impressionist paintings and works on paper from the 1880’s through the 1940s. \nDown on Marine Street\, the St. Augustine Art Association will be hosting three new exhibitions: The Great Outdoors\, Plein Air Pop Up\, and The First Coast Pastel Society Members Show. With St. Augustine’s vibrant history and lush natural surroundings it is no wonder artist’s are inspired by the great outdoors here. The Plein Air Pop Up show will feature juried work from the Plein Air Paint Out based on locations reflecting works on display in the Lightner Museum’s show St. Augustine in a New Light: American Impressionism from the Collection of the Lightner Museum. All three of these exhibitions will open during Art Walk until 7:30pm and will be on display for your viewing pleasure through May 31. \nVenture through the rest of the galleries in the historic district including P.A.St.A Gallery\, and Aviles Gallery who will be hosting their April Art Walk Giveaway! DESCRIPTION:The community is invited to join us on Sunday\, May 2nd for the ultimate Cinco de Mayo celebration! The Inaugural Jacksonville Taco & Tequila Festival is a culinary experience and fundraiser featuring Mexican cuisine from over 10 restaurants and food trucks\, as well as tequila stations\, craft margaritas\, local makers\, games\, live music\, and more! A limited amount of General Admission Experience tickets as well as VIP Sip & Savor Passes will be available for purchase but are expected to sell out due to limited capacity. \nThe festival is a fundraiser for The Wagoner Foundation\, Chemo Noir\, Fur Sisters\, The Jacksonville Jaycees\, and several other Jacksonville nonprofits. The second time this occurs\, they will be given a verbal warning and informed that if they are seen not properly wearing a mask for a third time\, they will be asked to leave the event. The third time this occurs\, the individual will be asked to leave the event. \nSanitation\n\nHand sanitizer stations and foot-pump hand washing stations will be placed throughout the event. In addition\, there will be bathrooms with running water for hand washing. \nAll surfaces will be disinfected prior to the event.\n\nDuring the event\, cleaning crews will continue to sanitize high-touch surfaces with disinfectant. \nSeating\n\nPicnic tables will be spaced throughout the event so households can eat and drink among their group. \nBag Policy\n\nSecurity will be checking all bags upon entry. Clear bags are strongly encouraged to speed up this process.
