So the thought arose is that this presentation is a collection of painted concertos\, or Concerti Dipinto. \nDavid Ouellette received his Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Arts in Painting from Wayne State University in Detroit\, Michigan. He taught at the University of Michigan-Dearborn\, while exhibiting in the metropolitan Detroit area. David Ouellette moved to St. Augustine in 1981\, and continued his career as an artist and professor of Fine Art at the Florida School of the Arts through his twenty-six year tenure. He is currently teaching Art History at the Flagler College ACE program.

SUMMARY:GTM Guided Beach Exploration
DESCRIPTION:On the third Saturday of every month\, the Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve hosts a guided walking tour at Guana South Beach from 9 to 11 am.  This walking tour is a two-hour long hike and participants will learn about the various species of life that call the area home. \nAfter the tour\, guests can return to the visitor center\, continue to hike the nearby trails or go to the beach. \nAdmission is free\, but parking is $3 \nPlease note\, you must register for a spot in the tour on their website.

DESCRIPTION:The historic Tolomato Cemetery hosts guided tours of the grounds on the third Saturday of every month from 11 am to 3 pm. The grounds were in use as a cemetery from the 18th century until 1864 and is the final resting place to some 1\,000 St. Augustinians. \nThis guided tour encourages attendees to come and learn about the rich history of the cemetery\, and those from an array of cultures who rest there. Some including Spanish\, Cuban\, Greek\, Minorcan\, African\, Irish\, and Haitian. This event is an opportunity to learn about the true stories of the people\, as well as the tales of our oldest city. \nAdmission is free. \n

SUMMARY:Concerti Dipinto: Artworks by David Ouellette
DESCRIPTION:This exhibition of paintings is a visual expression of the human experience\, finding inspiration in the tangible world\, the ethereal realm of time and the potential of the future\, through chance\, or fate. The abstract forms\, colors\, textures and their relationships in the composition of these works is much like music\, giving more of a sensation than a description. So the thought arose is that this presentation is a collection of painted concertos\, or Concerti Dipinto. \nDavid Ouellette received his Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Arts in Painting from Wayne State University in Detroit\, Michigan. He taught at the University of Michigan-Dearborn\, while exhibiting in the metropolitan Detroit area. David Ouellette moved to St. Augustine in 1981\, and continued his career as an artist and professor of Fine Art at the Florida School of the Arts through his twenty-six year tenure. He is currently teaching Art History at the Flagler College ACE program.

Share two or three of your polished poems or bust out some fresh ink from your notebook during Saint Augustine\, Florida’s longest running open mic poetry event. Invite a friend or two or three to view the livestream on FB Live to cheer you on. Love\, or our aversion to it\, is in the air and all are invited to write words to that theme. The writing prompt is just a suggestion\, and you are free to follow it or not. SUMMARY:Emma Greenhill is Butterfield Garage’s February Featured Artist
DESCRIPTION:Her paintings are a form of visual storytelling\, each one full of nature and symbolism\, left for the viewer to interpret. Emma will be in the Gallery monday Febuary 1 and Saturday Feb. 27 all day\, to discuss her process and the inspirations behind her paintings.\nEmma creates these figurative artworks from her imagination. With a rich color palette she sees the canvas as a window to the soul\, capturing the strength and vulnerability of women overcoming adversity. Knitted into her work are glimpses of nature\, often representing new life\, rebirth and spiritual awakening.\n​\n“Painting is a form of therapy for me\, I use it to transfer my feelings and release energy” \nMostly self taught Emma finds painting to be a continual learning experience\, persevering to find techniques that transfer what is in her head to what is on the canvas. She finds painting joyful and frustrating all at the same time\, sometimes sitting in front of the canvas and waiting and waiting to start and then starting and starting over\, then stopping and taking a break then coming back to it until that magical moment\, for no particular reason\, when things start to flow and it becomes easy\, joyful and fulfilling. \nThe painting “Boca” was inspired by a dog her husband had a very special relationship with and still talks about the special place the dog holds in his heart. Emma painting speaks to the bonds we develop with our pets\, and the immense comfort and joy they bring us. \nEmma paints from her home\, and participates in art shows across the State while being represented by the Butterfield Gallery in St. Augustine. She has won several awards for her work\, including Best of Show 2019 at the Old Florida Celebration of the Arts in Cedar Key.

DESCRIPTION:The Art Galleries of Saint Augustine founded and sponsors the award-winning First Friday Art Walk event on the first Friday of every month. Galleries open their doors from 5-9pm\, offering new art exhibits and lively receptions to the public. Start your free self-guided tour at any of the Art Galleries of Saint Augustine galleries. Most galleries are within close walking distance to each other; some are just a short ride away. Hop aboard the free Art Walk trains and trolleys that run throughout downtown. \nFeast on great arts & eats and the sounds of live music—rain or shine! For the late-nighters\, the celebration continues with “after parties” at area clubs and restaurants. Parking locations are shown on the map. Parking after 5pm is free except at the Historic Parking Garage. \nFrom 6-9pm\, Ripley’s Red Sightseeing Trains and The Old Town Trolleys provide free transportation during the Art Walk. The shuttles run every 20-30 minutes on a continuous loop (see map)\, allowing easy access to most of the downtown member galleries. DESCRIPTION:On the first Saturday of every month\, from 9-11am\, the Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve (GTMNERR) hosts a Guided Exploration Hike\, where attendees can learn about the cultural history of the Guana Peninsula\, as well as the natural ecosystem of the Reserve. \nA GTM naturalist will lead the hike and teach about the peninsula’s 5\,000 years of human history\, including how native peoples made use of the estuarine resources\, what European plantation life was like\, and current efforts to save those resources. \nThe hike is free\, but there is a $3 per vehicle parking fee at the reserve. \nPlease call (904) 823-4500 or visit here to reserve a spot on the tour. \n
