The Ponte Vedra Concert Hall Box Office remains closed at this time. The Apex Theatre Studio will launch their eight consecutive summer season with the beloved Broadway hit\, Annie\, June 17th -19th at Ponte Vedra Concert Hall. Based on the popular comic strip by Harold\nGray\, Annie has become a worldwide phenomenon and was the winner of seven Tony Awards\, including\, “Best Musical”. The beloved book and score by Tony Award winners\, Thomas Meehan\, Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin\, features some of the greatest musical theatre hits ever written\,\nincluding “Tomorrow.” \n“We are so excited to head back to our second home at Ponte Vedra Concert Hall\,” remarked Managing Director\, Ian Mairs. In addition to two live performances on Saturday\, June 19th at 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.\, live streaming performances will be offered on Thursday\, June 17th and Friday\, June 18th at 7:30 p.m. “Having more than one format allows our young artists to share this joyful show with their extended families who may live in another part of the country\,” added Mairs.\nTickets for Apex Theatre Studio’s Annie in person performances go on sale this Friday\, May 14 at 10:00am at The St. Augustine Amphitheatre Box Office or Ticketmaster.com. DESCRIPTION:Follow the yellow brick road. Saint Augustine Ballet presents the Wizard of Oz during two performances on Saturday\, May 22\, 2021 in Lewis Auditorium at Flagler College\, 14 Granada St.\, downtown St. Augustine. Show times are 1:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available at saintaugustineballet.com\, with social distanced seating.    \nYoung Dorothy Gale\, played by local high school student Jolynne Waldner\, and her dog Toto are swept away from their Kansas farm and plopped down in an otherworldly place called Oz. She offends one witch\, is befriended by another and\, after collecting a trio of oddball sidekicks\, heads off to the Emerald City so the all-powerful Wizard of Oz can help her go home. \nLuis Abella\, Artistic Director of Saint Augustine Ballet\, selected the cast of local dancers who attend schools throughout St. Augustine and St. Johns County\, from ages 8 to 18. \n“We are so excited to be able to present the Wizard of Oz to the community during this difficult time\,” Abella said. “Artistic expression is so incredibly important\, and we are thrilled to share these performances with our audiences.” \nDon’t miss seeing the dancing Scarecrow\, the Cowardly Lion\, The Tin Man\, Glinda\, Auntie Em\, a handful of Munchkins\, Monkeys\, and Poppies — and dancers depicting farm animals! \nTickets are $35\, $45 to $50\, available at saintaugustineballet.com or by calling 855-222-2849. Seating is safely socially distanced\, with a limited number of tickets available in advance for each performance. \nSaint Augustine Ballet offers performance opportunities to dancers from St. Augustine\, St. Johns County and the surrounding area.
