SUMMARY:Penelope Ann’s Revenge: A Reading
DESCRIPTION:First Coast Opera and A Classic Theatre will perform Penelope Ann’s Revenge:  A Reading on Sunday\, August 30\, at 3pm in the sanctuary of Ancient City Baptist Church in Saint Augustine.  This free program will be open to a limited in-person audience\, with social distancing measures in place.  It will also be streamed online. \nA brand new one-act opera written by composer Curtis Tucker\, FCO’s Artistic Director\, and librettist Nelson Sheeley\, Penelope Ann’s Revenge is a sequel to Arthur Sullivan’s one-act comedy Cox and Box. It continues where the other ended\, with two brothers sharing a rented flat in Victorian England. Their lives are turned upside down when Penelope Ann\, who was formerly engaged first to Box\, then to Cox\, arrives! \nThe cast features four FCO veterans.  Singing the title role of Penelope Ann is soprano Elena Galván\, who last appeared with FCO in Bernstein’s Broadway and The Stranger’s Tale.  Mezzo soprano Emily Heumann sings Lydia.  Emily sang Cherubino in FCO’s 2019 production of The Marriage of Figaro\, and she was in town rehearsing The Little Prince when COVID-19 shut the production down.  Tenor Daniel Bates returns as Box\, having sung the tenor roles in two other Tucker/Sheeley operas\, Jay in The Stranger’s Tale and B. B. Wolf in The Trial of B. B. Wolf.  He also sang Beppe in FCO’s I Pagliacci.  Singing Cox is baritone Sean Stork who has appeared in numerous First Coast Opera productions and concerts\, most recently singing Tonio in I Pagliacci. \nThe two companies will mount a full joint production of both Cox and Box and Penelope Ann’s Revenge in the Spring of 2021. For more information about attending or watching the Reading\, check www.firstcoastopera.com for more specific instructions about watching it online.  Whether in-person or online\, audiences will be able to hear the new one-hour piece\, hear a Q&A with artists afterwards\, and complete a survey to provide feedback about the work. \nAnd visit www.aclassictheatre.org\, as we are expanding our offerings during this pandemic hiatus presenting online productions via StA Home Theatre. and are looking forward to coming seasons with more exciting productions.

SUMMARY:A Book and a Beer
DESCRIPTION:Old Coast Ales and local author Andrew Stack will be hosting “A Book and a Beer” to celebrate the release of Stack’s military thriller The Black Hand. Between 3 and 7pm\, come enjoy fine craft beers and meet the author. Andrew will be discussing his novel The Black Hand and signing copies. For each book purchased\, the author picks up the first round! \n“With all that is going on in our country\, I feel the release of ‘The Black Hand’ could not be more appropriately timed\,” Andy explained. “This novel is about how our differences make us stronger as a nation\, not weaker. The cast of heroes who save America are as diverse as the country itself. Every reader needs to check his or her unconscious biases at the door when entering the story of ‘The Black Hand.’ Otherwise\, they may discover that door is really a trap.” Andy’s extensive military career and global travels have given him a unique insight into how humans interact with one another. \n  \nTo learn more about Old Coast Ales\, visit www.oldcoastales.com. SUMMARY:Robbie Litt Solo at Colonial Oak Music Park
DESCRIPTION:Robbie began his music career in Canada at the age of 12 as a bass player for local bands in northern Ontario. At 18\, Robbie formed Brothers The Band with his two brothers where he played guitar and sang lead vocals. Robbie developed his performance and song writing skills as Brothers The Band toured Ontario for 13 years. After Brothers The Band\, Robbie became a soloist and played guitar and harmonica for Canadian country music singer and songwriter\, Beverly Mahood. In 2013\, Robbie decided to take the opportunity to gain an American fan base by joining Carnival Cruise lines with ports in Jacksonville\, Florida and Galveston\, Texas. With Carnival\, he was able to travel and perform in countries like Spain\, Bahamas\, Turkey\, and Italy. Robbie’s music is inspired by classic rock and country artists such as Lynrd Sknyrd\, Kris Kristofferson\, Pink Floyd\, and Johnny Cash. His life experiences and personal trials have helped him to create moving songs like Play it Soft\, Brother\, and Take Me for a Ride which are favorites among his fans. \nColonial Oak Music Park is excited to resume live solo/duo acts. Colonial Oak Staff will be temperature checking each attendee at the door\, and requiring that patrons wear face masks\, except when seated. Per Phase 2 of the Governor’s reopening plan for Florida\, all patrons will be required to be seated during performances.  No gathering or milling around will be permitted.  The management of Colonial Oak Music Park will ask that everyone adhere to the CDC’s social distancing guidelines while in all Colonial Quarter establishments.
