SUMMARY:Rock and Roll Soul Group St. Paul & The Broken Bones
DESCRIPTION:The St. Augustine Amphitheatre\, in partnership with Flying Saucer Presents\, is thrilled to announce that rock and roll soul group St. Paul & The Broken Bones will take the stage at The Amp on Sunday\, May 23\, 2021 for a limited-capacity concert with distanced seating. The powerhouse soul group previously performed at The Amp in 2019 during Sing Out Loud Festival. Enhanced safety measures and protocols are in place\, including contactless digital ticketing\, face covering requirements\, and mobile ordering for concessions. Tickets for St. Paul & The Broken Bones on May 23\, 2021 go on sale this Friday\, February 26 at 10:00am at the venue Box Office or online at Ticketmaster.com. \nBlood is thicker than water\, and it can leave scars. But like it or not\, those in our bloodlines are stuck with us— and us with them—for better or for worse. Paul Janeway understands this conundrum of heritage well. The singer of the Birmingham\, Alabama–based rock and roll soul band St. Paul & The Broken Bones was born and raised in America’s Deep South\, a place where social consciousness can still take a backseat to unsavory traditions and where a family’s expectations sometimes supersede all else. Despite the fierce familial love\, he enjoyed and constantly gave back while growing up—especially to his father and grandfather—from an early age Janeway realized that the way he thought about the world was a little different from those around him\, and he began to seek an outlet from which to share what was in his heart and on his mind. Blessed with a powerful voice\, a magnetism for connecting with people\, and a gift for making music\, he traded in a career in ministry to start his own band. \nSt. Paul & The Broken Bones formed in 2012\, releasing their debut album Half the City in 2014 and its follow up\, 2016’s Sea of Noise\, too much acclaim. Those strong efforts helped place them on the national scene\, and the band worked hard to prove they were no mere retro-soul band—from touring the world relentlessly\, including being selected to open for The Rolling Stones and headlining two nights at the Ryman Auditorium\, to TV appearances including The Late Show with David Letterman\, Jimmy Kimmel Live\, Conan\, Austin City Limits two appearances on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert\, one being the very first episode. \nJaneway’s fearless showmanship\, thoughtful lyrics\, and dedication to his performance soon became the band’s calling card\, and paired with the inventive and skillful direction of co-band leader Jesse Phillips as well as a full eight-man roster comprised of some of the best young instrumentalists in the South\, they soon became a must-see event. Over time\, Janeway has learned the art of balancing expectations and how to reconcile his past with his future\, just as his band have learned how to overcome their perception by pushing against its ceiling. In embracing those things he cannot change\, he has forged ahead as an artist and as a man. And with his band’s new album\, Young Sick Camellia\, Janeway has created a space for St. Paul & The Broken Bones to rival any forward-thinking band making music today\, based on a concept all-too familiar to him: family\, and how we love\nthem despite our differences. \nTickets for St. Paul & The Broken Bones go on sale this Friday\, February 26 at 10:00am at The St. Augustine Amphitheatre Box Office and online at Ticketmaster.com. Tickets are sold in pre-configured pods (groupings) ranging from two to six seats per pod. Each pod is at least six feet from one to the next\, and all seats within the pod must be purchased together. Additionally\, all tickets are digital. SUMMARY:Rock Legends Blue Öyster Cult with special guests Mark Farner’s American Band
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, May 22\, The St. Augustine Amphitheatre will welcome rock legends Blue Öyster Cult with special guests Mark Farner’s American Band for a limited-capacity concert with distanced seating. Enhanced safety measures and protocols are in place\, including contactless digital ticketing\, face covering requirements\, and mobile ordering for concessions. Tickets for Blue Öyster Cult with special guest Mark Farner’s American Band go on sale this Friday\, March 12 at 10:00am at The St. Augustine Amphitheatre Box Office and online at Ticketmaster.com. \nFor over four decades\, Blue Öyster Cult has been thrilling fans of intelligent hard rock worldwide with powerful albums loaded with classic songs. Indeed\, the Long Island\, NY based band is revered within the hard rock and heavy metal scene for its pioneering work. Blue Öyster Cult occupies a unique place in rock history as one of very few hard rock/heavy metal bands to earn both genuine mainstream critical acclaim as well as commercial success. \nThe band is often cited as a major influence by other acts such as Metallica\, and BÖC was listed in VH1’s countdown of the greatest hard rock bands of all time. BÖC’s smash hitsinclude three stone-cold classic songs that will waft through the cosmos long after the sun has burned out: The truly haunting “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper” from 1976’s Agents of Fortune\, the pummeling “Godzilla” from 1977’s Spectres\, and the hypnotically melodic “Burnin’ for You” from 1981’s Fire of Unknown Origin.\nLegendary all-American frontman and guitarist Mark Farner was the engine that pulled the original Grand Funk Railroad to the top of the charts\, and today he’s a platinum recording artist 30 times over. \nAt age 67\, Farner commands the stage with the same intensity and outpouring of love as he did at 20 during the summer of ’69\, and his fans are still flocking to their captain. The rock patriot’s synergy and open heart come through in epic hits that defined a generation—“I’m Your Captain (Closer to Home)\,” “We’re An American Band\,” a recut of “The Loco-Motion\,” and “Some Kind of Wonderful”— and “rock star” is only one facet of this Michigan-born son’s legacy. Farner is also about as real as they get: He’s a husband\, in his fourth decade of marriage to wife Lesia. He’s a family man with five adult sons. And he’s a caregiver. \nTickets for Blue Öyster Cult with special guests Mark Farner’s American Band go on sale this Friday\, March 12 at 10:00am at The St. Augustine Amphitheatre Box Office and online at Ticketmaster.com. Tickets are sold in pre-configured pods (groupings) ranging from two to eight seats per pod. SUMMARY:Grammy winning indie-folk duo Indigo Girls
DESCRIPTION:The St. Augustine Amphitheatre\, in partnership with Flying Saucer Presents\, is thrilled to announce that Grammy winning indie-folk duo Indigo Girls will perform at The Amp on Sunday\, May 30\, 2021 for a limited-capacity concert with distanced seating. Enhanced safety measures and protocols are in place\, including contactless digital ticketing\, face covering requirements\, and mobile ordering for concessions. Tickets for Indigo Girls go on sale this Friday\, April 2 at 10:00am at The St. Augustine Amphitheatre Box Office and online at Ticketmaster.com. \nNever ones to rest on their laurels\, Indigo Girls embarked on a bold new chapter in 2012\, collaborating with a pair of orchestrators to prepare larger-than-life arrangements of their songs to perform with symphonies around the country. It was a challenging endeavor\, to say the least\, but the Grammy-winning duo managed to find that elusive sonic sweet spot with the project\, creating a seamless blend of folk\, rock\, pop\, and classical that elevated their songs to new emotional heights without sacrificing any of the emotional intimacy and honesty that have defined their music for decades. Now\, after more than 50 performances with symphonies across America\, the experience has finally been captured in all its grandeur on the band’s stunning new album\, ‘Indigo Girls Live with The University of Colorado Symphony Orchestra.’ \nRecorded in front of a sold-out audience in Boulder\, CO\, and deftly mixed by Grammy winner Trina Shoemaker (Sheryl Crow\, Emmylou Harris)\, the record showcases Indigo Girls at their finest: raw\, real\, and revelatory. Spanning material from throughout the band’s career\, the 22-song set features a mix of reimagined classics\, unexpected deep cuts\, and tracks from their latest studio album\, One Lost Day. Backed by the symphony\, Amy Ray and Emily Saliers’ voices are both powerful and delicate\, their intertwined harmonies riding high on the crest of an emotional tidal wave created by Sean O’Loughlin and Stephen Barber’s dazzling arrangements. The orchestrations are as richly cinematic as a film score (think John Williams rather than J.S. Bach)\, and the 64-piece symphony wrings every ounce of passion from them\, helping to bring the band’s evocative storytelling to more vivid life than ever before. \nNPR’s Mountain Stage called the group “one of the finest folk duos of all time\,” while Rolling Stone said they “personify what happens when two distinct sensibilities\, voices\, and worldviews come together to create something transcendently its own\,” and The New York Times raved that “gleeful profanities\, righteous protest anthems and impeccable folk songwriting have carried this duo for thirty years.” \nTickets for Indigo Girls go on sale this Friday\, April 2 at 10:00am at The St. Augustine Amphitheatre Box Office and online at Ticketmaster.com. Tickets are sold in preconfigured pods (groupings) ranging from two to eight seats per pod. Each pod is at least six feet from one to the next\, and all seats within the pod must be purchased together. Additionally\, all tickets are digital. The St. Augustine Amphitheatre Box Office will be open on Fridays from 10:00am-6:00pm and Saturdays from 8:30am-12:30pm\, and will only accept payment via debit or credit card. \nSHOW: Indigo Girls\nVENUE: St. Augustine Amphitheatre\nDATE: Sunday\, May 30\, 2021\nTIME: Doors 6:00pm / Show 7:00pm\nTICKET PRICES: Tickets Ranging from $47.50 – $87.50\nWEBSITE: www.indigogirls.com; www.theamp.com\nLOCAL CONTACT: Ryan Hall\, Marketing & Promotions Specialist rhall@sjcfl.us / (904) 209-3753

SUMMARY:Legendary Americana Pioneer Robert Earl Keen
DESCRIPTION:The St. Augustine Amphitheatre\, in partnership with Flying Saucer Presents\, proudly announces that legendary Americana pioneer Robert Earl Keen will perform at The Amp on Sunday\, April 11\, 2021 for a limited-capacity concert with distanced seating. Enhanced safety measures and protocols are in place\, including contactless digital ticketing\, face covering requirements\, and mobile ordering for concessions. Tickets for Robert Earl Keen on Sunday\, April 11\, 2021 go on sale this Friday\, February 26 at 10:00am at the venue Box Office or online at Ticketmaster.com. \nIt’s not always easy to sum up a career – let alone a life’s ambition – so succinctly\, but those five words from Robert Earl Keen’s calling-card anthem just about do it. You can complete the lyric with the next five words – the ones routinely shouted back at Keen by thousands of fans a night (“and the party never ends!”) – just to punctuate the point with a flourish\, but it’s the part about the journey that gets right to the heart of what makes Keen tick. Some people take up a life of playing music with the goal of someday reaching a destination of fame and fortune; but from the get-go\, Keen just wanted to write and sing his own songs\, and to keep writing and singing them for as long as possible. “I always thought that I wanted to play music\, and I always knew that you had to get some recognition in order to continue to play music\,” Keen says. “But I never thought of it in terms of\ngetting to be a big star. I thought of it in terms of having a really\, really good career and writing some good songs\, and getting onstage and having a really good time.” \nNow three-decades on from the release of his debut album – with nineteen other records to his name\,\nthousands of shows under his belt and still no end in sight to the road ahead – Keen remains as committed to and inspired by his muse as ever. And as for accruing recognition\, well\, he’s done alright on that front\, too; from his humble beginnings on the Texas folk scene\, he’s blazed a peer\, critic\, and fan-lauded trail that’s earned him living-legend (not to mention pioneer) status in the Americana music world. And though the Houston native has never worn his Texas heart on his sleeve\, he’s long been regarded as one of the Lone Star State’s finest (not to mention top-drawing) true singer-songwriters. \nA breakthrough album for Keen\, A Bigger Piece of Sky and its songs\, such as “Amarillo Highway\,” “Whenever Kindness Fails\,” and “Corpus Christi Bay” are mainstays of his live set. The album was recorded in Nashville\, TN\, produced by Garry Velletri\, and mixed by Velletri and Jeff Coppage. The project features an amazing lineup consisting of Garry Tallent (E Street Band) on upright and electric bass\, Marty Stuart on mandolin\, Dave Durocher on percussion\, Jay Spell on accordion\, Jonathan Yudkin on violin\, and Maura O’Connell on vocals. It also features guest musicians George Marinelli (Bonnie Raitt) on harmony vocal and electric guitar\, Tommy Spurlock on guitar\, Michael Snow on tenor banjo\, Bryan Duckworth on violin\, Dave Heath on upright bass\, and Jennifer Prince on harmony vocals. \nTickets for Robert Earl Keen go on sale this Friday\, February 26 at 10:00am at The St. Augustine Amphitheatre Box Office and online at Ticketmaster.com. Tickets are sold in pre-configured pods (groupings) ranging from two to eight seats per pod. Each pod is at least six feet from one to the next\, and all seats within the pod must be purchased together. Additionally\, all tickets are digital. We are not quite ready to announce and publicize our SAMF 2021 Festival Live just yet\, but there are some wonderful things happening. \nSAMF is pleased to announce a new concert series SUNDAYS with SAMF. These events are in partnership with historic and cultural venues in St. Augustine supported by The Saint John’s Cultural Council and our generous donors and patrons. We begin with two Sunday afternoon concerts at Peña-Peck House collaborating with The Women’s Exchange on March 21st and March 28th at 1:00 pm (https://penapeckhouse.com/ ). \nThese events will be outdoors\, socially distanced seating\, and masked. The concerts are free\, however\, with limited seating\, these will be ticketed events. Tickets can be reserved on the SAMF website: www.SAMFestival.org. \nThe program and program notes are also available to download on the website. Please join us and share the SAMF experience. Your continued support will help us continue SUNDAYS with SAMF through the summer and fall of 2021 and into 2022\, allow our Signature Series to grow and bring you the music and experience you have come to enjoy from SAMF.https://www.staugustinemusicfestival.org/support/ \nSAMF is delighted to collaborate with The Woman’s Exchange of St. Augustine at the historic Peña-Peck House to present their first two SUNDAYS with SAMF afternoon concerts\, March 21st and March 28th. https://penapeckhouse.com/the-womans-exhange/\nwww.SAMFestival.org\n\nMembers of the Woman’s Exchange of St. Augustine are committed to the mission of “women helping women.”\n\nThe Woman’s Exchange of St. Augustine\, founded in 1892\, is a non-profit organization and part of the National Federation of Woman’s Exchanges.\n\nHistory of Federation of Woman’s Exchanges\nFederation members follow in the footsteps of women in the 19th century who began Woman’s Exchanges to help other women who had fallen on hard times. These women discretely placed their handmade items and home-cooked food in Exchanges where they were sold. Like the St. Augustine Exchange\, a number of those 19th-century Woman’s Exchanges are still in business today and are members of the Federation.\n\nWhat They Do\nMembers of the Woman’s Exchange of St. Augustine work to support the Peña-Peck House Museum\, to give hand-crafters a venue for selling their products\, and to provide scholarships for deserving women who are returning to school to prepare for new careers. To accomplish our goals\, we raise funds from guided tours\, gift shop sales\, luncheons\, weddings\, receptions\, and other special events.
