DESCRIPTION:On display will be her newest series of both Cruciform and Minimalist mixed media canvases \nCyndi Horn graduated from Florida State with a degree in graphic design\, most of her career life has ranged from design studios\, advertising agencies and TV broadcast networks\, where she has been recognized on a local and state level with Addy Awards. She painted at a young age for meditation and gratification\, and did not return to fine art until 2014 when she moved from Atlanta to Florida. \nHer design influence provides a strong foundation for her non-objective work. Using color\, line\, shapes\, textures and text in her multi media pieces\, she works intuitively\, allowing her impulses to drive the direction the piece takes. Simplifying and creating a visual rhythm is the underlying esthetic in her work. \nCyndi has become fascinated with using cruciforms as a unifying structure\, in which she divides the canvas into active and calm areas. The intersecting crossovers and adjoining elements captivates the viewers imagination. Her minimalism paintings are stripped down simple composistions that evoke thru color or shape an expansive\, restful moment. Cyndi will be in the gallery all day Sat. June 19 to discuss her work. \nCyndi is a member of SOMMA\, Society of Mixed Media Artists\, and has won several awards in the groups exhibits. DESCRIPTION:First Coast Opera and A Classic Theatre are collaborating to bring northeast Florida audiences an exciting new production which includes a world premiere! The two companies will present seven performances of Cox and Box and Penelope Ann’s Revenge\, two British farce operettas\, during the Romanza Festivale of the Arts in May. Show times are 7:30 p.m. May 4-8; and 2 p.m. May 8-9 at the Lincolnville Museum and Cultural Center in historic St. Augustine\, Florida. Tickets can be purchased online at www.aclassictheatre.org/tickets \nComposed by Arthur Sullivan\, of Gilbert and Sullivan fame\, Cox and Box is a Victorian farce in which two gentlemen unknowingly rent and live in the same apartment. When the landlord’s ruse is uncovered\, Mr. Cox and Mr. Box discover that they share other things\, including a past fiancée\, Penelope Ann. \nThe story continues\, ten years later\, in Penelope Ann’s Revenge\, a sequel by First Coast Opera Artistic Director Curtis Tucker and Nelson Sheeley\, receiving its world premiere. In the new operetta\, Penelope Ann returns to put the two men in their proper places. Apparent conflict turns to happy ending with a few topsy-turvyt wists throughout. \nThe cast consists of Tyler Putnam as Cox\, Curtis Tucker as Box\, Jason Whitfield as Bouncer\, Sarah Nordin as Lydia and Catherine Ortega Spitzer as Penelope. Restaurants will compete for the prestigious TOStA (Taste of St. Augustine) awards\, with categories including Best Family Dining\, Best Ethnic\, Best Upscale and Best Dessert\, as well as the ever-popular People’s Choice. Everyone gets to vote. There will be children’s area with fun activities including crafts and face-painting as well as live music throughout the day.
