SUMMARY:POSTPONED – St. Augustine Race Week 2020
DESCRIPTION:Once again the First Coast Sailing Association and its associated yacht clubs are proud to bring to St. Augustine the premiere sailing event of the spring season. It’s an eight-day celebration of all types of sailing set in America’s oldest seaport city. In 2020 we’ll continue that great combination of competition and entertainment with spectator events and entertainment the entire city can enjoy. As always\, St Augustine Race Week offers Challenging Offshore Yacht Racing\, Exciting Inshore Yacht Racing and Inspiring Bayfront Youth Sailboat Racing for sailors from 12 – 92 arriving from up and down the Atlantic coast. Sailers will race their yachts on the Ocean in the River and on the Bay! FAST\, FUN and FRIENDLY events for Sailors\, Spectators and Party People on the Water and on the Land for a full week in St Augustine\, Florida. It’s the world-famous St Augustine Race Week – March 14-21\, 2020. \nRace Week 2020 includes all the features everyone loves including the best live local bands\, great food\, delicious rum drinks and convivial socializing with all your sailing friends – public is invited too – downtown in the Meehan’s Big Party Tent at the St. Augustine Municipal Marina. To get your 2020 shirts\, hats\, sail bags and other paraphernalia\, check the merchandise page on the Race week website. And\, like the 2019 event\, hundreds of spectators will see the delightful spectacle of youngsters racing right off the Bayfront in their One-Design 420’s. We will even have a Dragon Boat demonstration on the Bayfront\, too! \nSomething for Every Boat. You don’t have to own an ocean-going boat to participate. Slightly smaller yachts and even trailerable sailing boats are invited to race in the popular Inshore Series in the Tolomato River just North of the Vilano Bridge. The Offshore Series is for serious racers who like lots of traditional round-the-buoys\, upwind-downwind racing. The Tactical Challenge Series presents a set of coordinates to be reached by any route sailors choose. \nKids – The Best Thing about the Regatta: In the summer of 2019 proceeds from St. Augustine Race Week enabled us to send nearly 40 underprivleged kids to various summer sailing camps around the area free of charge! That’s what we’re all about – giving less fortunate children a great summer experience and training the next generation of sailors. We’re looking forward to increasing that amount in 2020 and giving even more kids their first experience at the helm of a real sailboat. The 2020 SARW One-Design 420 Youth Regatta sails in the Matanzas Bay on its own special weekend\, March 14th & 15th. \nFor all the week’s racing events – from actual races to the parties and socials – visit this events page. \n  \nVisit the website for more details and a full race events schedule.

SUMMARY:CANCELLED – Loving Beethoven Interactive Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:THIS EVENT IS CANCELLED UNTIL THE CULTURAL CENTER REOPENS ON MARCH 30.\nIn 2020\, the world will celebrate Ludwig van Beethoven’s 250th birthday anniversary. The Cultural Center at Ponte Vedra Beach\, in partnership with MIMMA (Interactive Music Museum in Malaga\, Spain) is paying tribute to this milestone thanks to the traveling musical installation Loving Beethoven. The interactive music installation will be at the Cultural Center from March 6\, 2020 to May 26\, 2020. \nAt the end of June\, 2019\, Cultural Center Director Donna Guzzo visited the museum in Malaga\, Spain to start discussions with the MIMMA Director\, Miguel Angel Piedrola. After the visit to MIMMA\, Guzzo requested the collaboration with MIMMA to develop a program that will showcase music-related activities and host the exhibit in the United States at the Cultural Center at Ponte Vedra Beach. The interactive nature of the MIMMA exhibits\, with galleries full of musical instruments where the public is encouraged to touch and try\, is one of the traits the Cultural Center is looking to replicate during the exhibit in Florida. \n“Loving Beethoven ties together the Cultural Center’s mission and the Center’s outreach program Sound Connections® Music Therapy perfectly. We are thrilled to be working with Miguel Angel Piedrola and MIMMA on our first collaborative\, international project.”\n– Executive Director Donna Guzzo

SUMMARY:Lenten Concert Series
DESCRIPTION:A Lenten Organ Concert Series is offered at Memorial Presbyterian each year during the Wednesdays of Lent at 12:30pm. Guest recitalists come from across the community\, the country\, and the world to play Memorial’s 155-rank\, over five thousand pipe\, Aeolian-Skinner organ. Admission is free. Donations are appreciated. \nIn 1969\, Reverend Dr. David Redding and organist Everett Eubanks approached two long-term members of the congregation about funding a new pipe organ for the congregation. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Johnson\, closely tied to the Mellon family of Pittsburgh\, Pennsylvania\, provided the money necessary for the project. The church selected the Aeolian-Skinner Pipe Organ Company of Boston\, Massachusetts\, to install the new pipe organ. The new organ contained 90 ranks and over 5\,000 pipes including the chimes from the old Roosevelt-Estey organ. In 1971\, the organ expanded with two additional divisions: the Bombarde division above the organ in the casework and the Antiphonal division in the north balcony. The Aeolian-Skinner organ at Memorial Church represents one of the “American Classic Organs” produced by the company during this period. In 2000\, R.A. Colby\, Inc. of Johnson City\, Tennessee\, rebuilt the organ console adding new MIDI technology to the organ allowing the organ to be played remotely in six locations throughout the sanctuary.

He was also inducted twice into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame\, as a solo artist and with CSN\, and he is a GRAMMY Award winner. \nTowering above virtually everything that Graham Nash has accomplished in his long and multi-faceted career\, stands the litany of songs that he has written and introduced to the soundtrack of the past half-century. His remarkable body of work\, beginning with his contributions to the Hollies opus from 1964 to ’68\, including “Stop Stop Stop\,” “On A Carousel\,” and “Carrie Anne\,” continues all the way to This Path Tonight (2016)\, his most recent solo album. Fifteen of his songs are celebrated in the 2018 release\, Over the Years…\, a 2-disc collection of some of Nash’s best-known works from the past 50 years and more than a dozen unreleased demos and mixes. \nThe original classic union of Crosby\, Stills & Nash (& Young) lasted but twenty months.  Yet their songs are lightning rods embedded in our DNA\, starting with Nash’s “Marrakesh Express\,” “Pre-Road Downs” and “Lady Of the Island\,” from the first Crosby\, Stills & Nash LP (1969).  On CSNY’s Déjà Vu (1970)\, Nash’s “Teach Your Children” and “Our House” beseeched us to hold love tightly\, to fend off the madness that was on its way. \nNash’s passionate voice continues to be heard in support of peace\, and social and environmental justice. The No Nukes/Musicians United for Safe Energy (MUSE) concerts he organized with Jackson Browne and Bonnie Raitt in 1979 remain seminal benefit events.  In 2011\, Nash was instrumental in bringing MUSE back to the forefront with a concert to benefit Japan disaster relief and groups promoting non-nuclear energy worldwide. That same year\, he and Crosby were among the many musicians who made their way to the Occupy Wall Street actions in lower Manhattan. \nIn September 2013\, Nash released his long-awaited autobiography Wild Tales\, which delivers an engrossing\, no-holds-barred look back at his remarkable career and the music that defined a generation. The book landed him on the New York Times Best Sellers list\, and was released in paperback in late 2014.
