DESCRIPTION:This exciting week-long\, community-wide event invites artists to choose among the landmarks\, hotels\, buildings\, open spaces\, and cityscapes that reflect the culture and history of the nation’s oldest city. Artists participating in the Plein Air Paint Out will be positioned all over the downtown historic district in St. Augustine from April 23 to 30\, 2019. Works that are selected from submitted works will be featured in a juried exhibition\, “Where Art Meets History\,” at the St. Augustine Art Association that will run from May 3 to May 26\, 2019. Registration is $59.

The visit consists of a guided tour through the 5 decks of the Santa María\, where you can find informative panels with the history of the ship\, ornamental elements of the time and talk with the crew to feel how to live the Spanish sailors 500 years ago.Tours will commence from 10am to 7pm each day. SUMMARY:Lightner After Hours – Celebrating Degas’ Circle
DESCRIPTION:While Edgar Degas did not commonly paint en plein air\, his circle of friends certainly did! Join The Lightner Museum and The Saint Augustine Art Associations’ circle of friends during April’s free monthly social event. Guests will enjoy an early evening of cocktails\, light hors d’oeuvres and music by “Ramona.”  Equally fun is a special opportunity to watch registered plein air artists painting live-happenings in our historic mezzanine area of the museum. Guests may enter at the Granada Street entrance (with the blue and white awnings\, located across from the Corazon Cinema). Visitors wishing to view the Degas exhibition during our free Lightner After Hours event may purchase a $5 admission ticket in the museum gift shop that evening.
