SUMMARY:YMCA Mardi Gras 5K
DESCRIPTION:5th Annual Mardi Gras 5K Beach Run/Walk on the beautiful beaches of Anastasia State Park\, St. Augustine\, FL. All proceeds go to our Annual Give the Y Campaign to help with reduced rates for Military Memberships\, Swim Lessons\, Afterschool/Summer Camp\, Sports Programs and much more to help our community. All funds stay in our St. Augustine community. \nPacket pick up will be Saturday\, February 15th\, 2-5 pm at the St. Augustine YMCA\, 500 Pope Road\, St. Augustine\, FL 32080\, or they can be picked up at the race on the 16th. DESCRIPTION:Calling amateur bird lovers and birding experts alike! Led by a park volunteer and naturalist\, the walk leads guests along the beaches\, boardwalk\, and nature trails of the state park. Anastasia Park boasts a diverse variety of shore birds\, marsh birds\, and hammock birds\, as well as migratory birds in the winter months that cannot be seen any other time of the year. Guests are encouraged to dress for the weather and bring binoculars\, water\, and walking shoes. The walk will meet at the Island Beach Shop & Grill Pavilion. \nThe walk is free with park admission. This event is weather permitting and subject to cancellation.

This annual event will include the 1 mile fun run (untimed)\, the classic 5k and our challenging 9k! Both the 5k and 9k will be chip timed with awards for the top runners in each category. All the runs are open to runners and walkers of all levels. Can’t make it out on race day\, that’s okay…we are offering a “NO EXCUSE” Virtual 5k or 9k options\, so you can still be part of the fun\, earn a T-shirt and medal\, all the while supporting a great cause.\n \nREMINDER: Since our race is to benefit Law Enforcement K9s\, we only allow service dogs to come. There will be several there from surrounding agencies. We want our K9s to have the freedom to participate in the run as well as the K9 demonstration afterwards. \nIn addition to the race there will be amazing post-race activities for the whole family including kids arts and crafts\, a K-9 photo booth to get your picture taken with your favorite K9 Hero\, and everyone’s favorite\, a K-9 demonstration that will be bigger and better than ever. \nRUN FOR FREE!
