SUMMARY:International Lighthouse and Lightship Weekend
DESCRIPTION:The St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum will join 400+ lighthouses from throughout the world for International Lighthouse and Lightship Weekend (ILLW) from August 17-18\, with support from members of the St. Augustine Amateur Radio Society (SAARS) on the grounds of the nonprofit Museum throughout the weekend. \nMembers of SAARS will operate the HAM radios and communicate with lighthouses all over the globe. The weekend festivities will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Friday and run continuously until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday. Most members of SAARS will rotate shifts through the entire 48 hours. \nA tent will be set up in front of the St. Augustine Lighthouse to serve as ILLW headquarters. During regular visiting hours\, from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM\, Museum guests are welcome to visit the tent to listen and watch as SAARS communicates with other participants around the globe. \n

DESCRIPTION:“Confessions of the Corazon” returns to the Corazon Cinema and Cafe with Uncle Eddie as our featured storyteller\, on August 29th. Uncle Eddie is one of half of the duo\, Uncle Eddie & Robin. He is a multi-instrumentalist (banjo\, guitar\, dobro) and vocalist. \nThe event is all ages and is $5 (cash only) for each person. There is room for 10 storytellers each time and it is first come\, first served. Sign up by purchasing one item and there are free refills on most beverages. Sign up at 5:00 p.m. and the stories begin at 5:30 p.m. Each storyteller receives six to eight minutes of stage time. The featured storyteller gets 10 minutes of stage time and 50% of the proceeds from the door. \nAfter each event\, the current featured storyteller draws the name for the following month’s storyteller. We’re going to try something different\, this month. Next month’s chosen featured storyteller will have the option to pick next month’s theme or keep it as no particular theme. \nIf you are an artist\, bring in your works and sell them. Let’s hear your elevator pitch. “Confessions” is perfect for all artists\, authors\, comedians\, writers\, poets\, influencers\, content creators\, entrepreneurs\, filmmakers\, actors\, storytellers\, etc. \nWe look forward to seeing you at the event and hearing your stories.
