DESCRIPTION:The National Park Service is offering four five-day sessions of a Hands-on-History and Nature Summer Day Camp at Fort Matanzas and  Castillo de San Marcos. The summer day camp sessions are geared for campers ages 9 to 11. \nThe camp activities will include presentations\, hands-on projects\, games\, and living history demonstrations. The topics covered will range from archaeology and preservation to nature\, Native Americans\, Spanish exploration\, and life in colonial Florida. Activities will include creating textiles\, pottery\, leatherwork\, and more. \nFees for the event listed below: \n$25.00 per child. \nTo register\, contact Mary Sims at (904) 829-6506 ext. 227 (from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday). \n

DESCRIPTION:Anastasia State Park is hosting “A Historical Look Into the Old Spanish Quarries\,” on Thursday\, June 13\, and Saturday\, June 22\, from 10:00 to 11:00 am. \nThis informative tour\, led by a park ranger\, will describe how the quarry was used and how the use of coquina played a role in the architecture and history of St. Augustine. \nGuests should check in at the Ranger Station and then meet for the program in the quarry parking area by the front entrance gate. \nAdmission to this event is free. Regular park admissions apply $8.00 per vehicle (limit 8 people)\, $4.00 per single-occupant vehicle\, and $2.00 for pedestrians\, bicyclists\, and extra passengers. \n
