DESCRIPTION:Participants in these tours will be able to explore the beauty of the Intracoastal Waterway and its wildlife and ecosystems alongside a park naturalist. The cost of the tour is $30 per person ($20 for St. Johns County residents) for people bringing their own kayaks and $50 per person ($40 for SJC residents) for those who will be using a county kayak. SUMMARY:Family Seining
DESCRIPTION:On the second and fourth Saturdays of each month\, the Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve (GTMNERR) hosts classes for the whole family to learn how to use seine nets to collect various fish and crab species. Visitors will get the chance to pull a seine net through Guana Lake\, collecting species of fish\, crabs and more\, and then learn about the animals and their roles in the habitat. The free event is led by a naturalist and all necessary gear is provided. Registration via the website is required.

DESCRIPTION:Join the city as it commemorates the 453rd anniversary of the landing of the Spanish fleet on its shores. The anniversary of the founding of the city by Don Pedro Menéndez de Avilés on September 8\, 1565 will take place at the Mission Nombre de Dios and the Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park. Throughout the day\, there will be reenactments of the significant moments of the founding – landing on the mission grounds\, ceremonies and Catholic mass\, the first Thanksgiving\, and more. The event is free.
