SUMMARY:Rock Legends Blue Öyster Cult with special guests Mark Farner’s American Band
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, May 22\, The St. Augustine Amphitheatre will welcome rock legends Blue Öyster Cult with special guests Mark Farner’s American Band for a limited-capacity concert with distanced seating. Enhanced safety measures and protocols are in place\, including contactless digital ticketing\, face covering requirements\, and mobile ordering for concessions. Tickets for Blue Öyster Cult with special guest Mark Farner’s American Band go on sale this Friday\, March 12 at 10:00am at The St. Augustine Amphitheatre Box Office and online at Ticketmaster.com. \nFor over four decades\, Blue Öyster Cult has been thrilling fans of intelligent hard rock worldwide with powerful albums loaded with classic songs. Indeed\, the Long Island\, NY based band is revered within the hard rock and heavy metal scene for its pioneering work. Blue Öyster Cult occupies a unique place in rock history as one of very few hard rock/heavy metal bands to earn both genuine mainstream critical acclaim as well as commercial success. \nThe band is often cited as a major influence by other acts such as Metallica\, and BÖC was listed in VH1’s countdown of the greatest hard rock bands of all time. BÖC’s smash hitsinclude three stone-cold classic songs that will waft through the cosmos long after the sun has burned out: The truly haunting “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper” from 1976’s Agents of Fortune\, the pummeling “Godzilla” from 1977’s Spectres\, and the hypnotically melodic “Burnin’ for You” from 1981’s Fire of Unknown Origin.\nLegendary all-American frontman and guitarist Mark Farner was the engine that pulled the original Grand Funk Railroad to the top of the charts\, and today he’s a platinum recording artist 30 times over. \nAt age 67\, Farner commands the stage with the same intensity and outpouring of love as he did at 20 during the summer of ’69\, and his fans are still flocking to their captain. The rock patriot’s synergy and open heart come through in epic hits that defined a generation—“I’m Your Captain (Closer to Home)\,” “We’re An American Band\,” a recut of “The Loco-Motion\,” and “Some Kind of Wonderful”— and “rock star” is only one facet of this Michigan-born son’s legacy. Farner is also about as real as they get: He’s a husband\, in his fourth decade of marriage to wife Lesia. He’s a family man with five adult sons. And he’s a caregiver. \nTickets for Blue Öyster Cult with special guests Mark Farner’s American Band go on sale this Friday\, March 12 at 10:00am at The St. Augustine Amphitheatre Box Office and online at Ticketmaster.com. Tickets are sold in pre-configured pods (groupings) ranging from two to eight seats per pod. Each pod is at least six feet from one to the next\, and all seats within the pod must be purchased together. Additionally\, all tickets are digital. The St. Augustine Amphitheatre Box Office will be open on Fridays from 10:00am-6:00pm and Saturdays from 8:30am- 12:30pm\, and will only accept payment via debit or credit card. \nSHOW: Blue Öyster Cult with special guests Mark Farner’s American Band\nVENUE: St. Augustine Amphitheatre\nDATE: Saturday\, May 22\, 2021\nTIME: Doors 6:00pm / Show 7:30pm\nTICKET PRICES: Tickets Ranging from $77.50 – $157.50\nWEBSITE: www.blueoystercult.com; www.markfarner.com; www.theamp.com\nLOCAL CONTACT: Ryan Hall\, Marketing & Promotions Specialist rhall@sjcfl.us / (904) 209-3753

SUMMARY:Rock and Roll Soul Group St. Paul & The Broken Bones
DESCRIPTION:The St. Augustine Amphitheatre\, in partnership with Flying Saucer Presents\, is thrilled to announce that rock and roll soul group St. Paul & The Broken Bones will take the stage at The Amp on Sunday\, May 23\, 2021 for a limited-capacity concert with distanced seating. The powerhouse soul group previously performed at The Amp in 2019 during Sing Out Loud Festival. Enhanced safety measures and protocols are in place\, including contactless digital ticketing\, face covering requirements\, and mobile ordering for concessions. Tickets for St. Paul & The Broken Bones on May 23\, 2021 go on sale this Friday\, February 26 at 10:00am at the venue Box Office or online at Ticketmaster.com. \nBlood is thicker than water\, and it can leave scars. But like it or not\, those in our bloodlines are stuck with us— and us with them—for better or for worse. Paul Janeway understands this conundrum of heritage well. The singer of the Birmingham\, Alabama–based rock and roll soul band St. Paul & The Broken Bones was born and raised in America’s Deep South\, a place where social consciousness can still take a backseat to unsavory traditions and where a family’s expectations sometimes supersede all else. Despite the fierce familial love\, he enjoyed and constantly gave back while growing up—especially to his father and grandfather—from an early age Janeway realized that the way he thought about the world was a little different from those around him\, and he began to seek an outlet from which to share what was in his heart and on his mind. Blessed with a powerful voice\, a magnetism for connecting with people\, and a gift for making music\, he traded in a career in ministry to start his own band. \nSt. Paul & The Broken Bones formed in 2012\, releasing their debut album Half the City in 2014 and its follow up\, 2016’s Sea of Noise\, too much acclaim. Those strong efforts helped place them on the national scene\, and the band worked hard to prove they were no mere retro-soul band—from touring the world relentlessly\, including being selected to open for The Rolling Stones and headlining two nights at the Ryman Auditorium\, to TV appearances including The Late Show with David Letterman\, Jimmy Kimmel Live\, Conan\, Austin City Limits two appearances on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert\, one being the very first episode. \nJaneway’s fearless showmanship\, thoughtful lyrics\, and dedication to his performance soon became the band’s calling card\, and paired with the inventive and skillful direction of co-band leader Jesse Phillips as well as a full eight-man roster comprised of some of the best young instrumentalists in the South\, they soon became a must-see event. Over time\, Janeway has learned the art of balancing expectations and how to reconcile his past with his future\, just as his band have learned how to overcome their perception by pushing against its ceiling. In embracing those things he cannot change\, he has forged ahead as an artist and as a man. And with his band’s new album\, Young Sick Camellia\, Janeway has created a space for St. Paul & The Broken Bones to rival any forward-thinking band making music today\, based on a concept all-too familiar to him: family\, and how we love\nthem despite our differences. \nTickets for St. Paul & The Broken Bones go on sale this Friday\, February 26 at 10:00am at The St. Augustine Amphitheatre Box Office and online at Ticketmaster.com. Tickets are sold in pre-configured pods (groupings) ranging from two to six seats per pod. SUMMARY:Progressive Rock Icons Styx
DESCRIPTION:The St. Augustine Amphitheatre is thrilled to welcome the return of progressive rock icons Styx to stage on Wednesday\, June 16\, 2021 for a limited-capacity concert with distanced seating. Enhanced safety measures and protocols are in place\, including contactless digital ticketing\, face\ncovering requirements\, and mobile ordering for concessions. Tickets Styx go on sale next Friday\, April 30 at 10:00am at the venue Box Office or online at Ticketmaster.com. \nThe six men comprising Styx have committed to rocking the Paradise together with audiences far and wide by entering their second decade of averaging over 100 shows a year\, and each one of them is committed to making the next show better than the last. Styx draws from over four decades of barnburning chart hits\, joyous singalongs\, and hard-driving deep cuts. Like a symphony that builds to a satisfying crescendo\, a Styx set covers a wide range of stylistic cornerstones. From the progressively sweeping splendor that is The Grand Illusion to the hunker-down fortitude of all that is the Blue Collar Man\, from the majestic spiritual love for a special Lady to the seething indictment of preening\, primping pageantry for pageantry’s sake of Miss America\, from an individual yearning for true connection as a Man in the Wilderness to a soul-deep quest to achieve what’s at the heart of one’s personal vision in Crystal Ball\, from the regal reach-for-the-stars bravado of Come Sail Away to the grainy\nall-in gallop of that rugged Renegade who had it made\, the band draws on an unlimited cache of ways to immerse one’s mind and body in their signature sound. \nAfter more than a decade together on the road\, this incarnation of Styx is looking forward to performing as many shows as it can as long as it can. “It all comes back to the chemistry\,” says bassist/vocalist Ricky Phillips. \n“The legacy of this band will be that it brought joy to millions of people\,” notes drummer Todd Sucherman. Observes keyboardist/vocalist Lawrence Gowan\, “We’ve always tried to explain why this is this happening. It’s obviously a multitude of factors\, but the main one is that our show is really good! And if it’s really good\, they’re going to come to see it again.” Styx hopes it’s a wave that never crests. “Every night\, we go on that magic carpet ride together\,” observes original bassist Chuck Panozzo\, who joins the band on tour as often as he can. “Music is this amazing force that comes from a higher place. I’m humbled for this band to have the great success that it has\,” says co-founding guitarist/vocalist James “JY” Young. “We just want to keep on doing this\,” asserts Tommy. “We want to let life take its course and let this music continue to be the soundtrack to it. And this band will continue to evolve as long as we live and play this music.” The jig is up\, the news is out: The Esprit de Styx is alive and well\, and now it’s time to see for yourself. Welcome to the Grand Evolution. \nTickets for Styx go on sale next Friday\, April 30 at 10:00am at The St. Augustine Amphitheatre Box Office and online at Ticketmaster.com. SUMMARY:Drive-By Truckers Front-Man Patterson Hood
DESCRIPTION:The St. Augustine Amphitheatre\, in partnership with Flying Saucer Presents\, will proudly welcome Drive-By Truckers front-man Patterson Hood to The Backyard Stage on Thursday\, June 24\, 2021 for a limited-capacity concert with distanced seating. Enhanced safety measures and protocols are in place\, including contactless digital ticketing\, face covering requirements\, and mobile ordering for concessions. Tickets for An Evening with Patterson Hood go on sale this Friday\, April 16 at 10:00am at the venue Box Office or online at Ticketmaster.com. The Backyard Stage is proudly presented by Intuition Ale Works. \nPatterson Hood is a prolific writer and performer whose character-driven stories are packed with political subtext. He is best known as front-man\, singer\, songwriter and guitar player for the critically acclaimed rock and roll band Drive-By Truckers\, but is also a writer of essays\, columns and short stories. \nIn addition to his work with Drive-By Truckers\, Patterson has amassed three solo albums and co-produced or played on additional albums by Bettye LaVette\, Booker T. Jones and The Dexateens. \nAlabama is near to Hood’s heart\, being born in Florence and raised in the Muscle Shoals area. He attended The University of Northern Alabama before he moved to Athens\, Georgia where he lived for twenty-one years. \nWhen he relocated to Athens at age 30\, he “felt like he had died and gone to heaven.” Athens is where Drive-By Truckers was born\, and where Patterson really hit his stride. \nDrive-By Truckers have released 13 albums and played over 2\,000 shows in the past nineteen years. They also released a 35-song\, career-spanning box set in 2015 that was recorded live at The Fillmore in San Francisco. American Band\, their most recent album released in the height of election season on September 30\, 2016\, takes their political undertones much closer to the surface than ever before. \nPraises have rolled in for American Band since its release. NPR has claimed it to be one of the best albums yet from Drive-By Truckers\, deeming it “unapologetically progressive” and “a poignant take on what it means to be an American in a time when uncertainty and fear are omnipresent.” Rolling Stone raves\, “American Band comes from the very distinct perspective of a group that remains burdened by\, and reckoning with\, its own bloody southern history.” The record has been also been recognized on several 2016 year-end lists including The Los Angeles Times\, Chicago Tribune\, Rolling Stone\, NPR\, Uncut\, and Entertainment Weekly. \nTickets for An Evening with Patterson Hood go on sale this Friday\, April 16 at 10:00am at The St. Augustine Amphitheatre Box Office and online at Ticketmaster.com. Tickets are sold in pre-configured pods (groupings) ranging from two to six seats per pod. SUMMARY:Legendary Rock Vocalist Ann Wilson of Heart
DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, June 27\, The St. Augustine Amphitheatre is thrilled to welcome legendary rock vocalist Ann Wilson\, of Heart\, to The Amp stage for a limited-capacity concert with distanced seating. Enhanced safety measures and protocols are in place\, including contactless digital ticketing\, face covering requirements\, and mobile ordering for concessions. Tickets for Ann Wilson go on sale Friday\, April 23 at 12:00pm at the venue Box Office or online at Ticketmaster.com. \nShe is\, simply\, one of the greatest voices in the history of rock n roll. Period. For the past 40 years\, Ann Wilson has been lead singer for the rock band Heart (35 million records sold)\, thrilling audiences with her vocal power and her natural gift to wrap her voice around an emotion in a song and lay it at the listener’s feet. Ann carved out a place for women to dominate a rock stage\, and her icon status was cemented when Heart was inducted into the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame. Ann’s early fascination with blues-based music culminated when she discovered Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin. She conquered his howls\, his wails\, and put her own female stamp on them. (In 2012\, Ann would bring Robert Plant to tears at the Kennedy Center Honors as he watched her masterful performance of his classic “Stairway To Heaven”.) \nAfter touring the big stages of the world with Heart\, Ann is eager to re-visit the bluesy fertile ground that gave rise to her one-of-a kind voice. She can bring intimacy to the stage\, breaking hearts along the way. And inevitably\, she will repair them as she transforms the moment into an up-on-your-feet\, Rock Party. Every audience walks away\, with wobbling knees\, knowing they have witnessed a legend in her prime. SUMMARY:Pioneering Alt-Country Rock Group Old 97’s Return to Ponte Vedra Concert Hall
DESCRIPTION:Ponte Vedra Concert Hall\, in partnership with Flying Saucer Presents\, is pleased to announce that pioneering alt-country rock group Old 97’s will return to the stage\non Friday\, October 1\, 2021 for a full capacity performance. Tickets for Old 97’s go on sale this Friday\, May 21 at 10:00am at The St. Augustine Amphitheatre Box Office or Ticketmaster.com. Ponte Vedra Concert Hall Box Office remains closed at this time. \nIn 1996\, Old 97’s recorded Too Far to Care. It was their major-label debut—following two independent releases and a year-long bidding war\, the Dallas-based quartet had signed with Elektra Records. But rather than venture into some state-of-the-art studio in New York or LA\, the band decamped to Village Productions in Tornillo\, Texas\, a remote facility in the middle of two thousand acres of pecan trees near the Mexican border\, with a mixing board acquired from an engineer who had worked on some of\nQueen’s albums. Now over twenty years later\, they have returned to record their eleventh studio album\, Graveyard Whistling. \n“Too Far To Care is the sound that best defined us\,” says Rhett Miller\, the lead singer and primary songwriter. “It was a really magical time\, and we go back to it a lot in our collective memory.” \nAnd so when it came time for the band—which still consists of the same four members: Miller\, guitarist Ken Bethea\, bassist Murry Hammond\, and drummer Philip Peeples—to record their newest endeavor\, producer Vance Powell brought up the idea of returning to Tornillo. “We knew instantly that it was the\nperfect move\,” says Miller. “We weren’t trying to remake Too Far to Care\, but to make something where fans would say\, ‘This band hasn’t lost a step in twenty-some years.’” \nThe result is the eleven songs of Graveyard Whistling\, from a group that has earned the respect and veneration as one of the pioneers of the alt-country movement\, while still retaining the raucous energy\, deceptive cleverness\, and knockabout spirit that first distinguished them from the pack. The record comes out blazing with the breakneck shuffle of “I Don’t Want to Die in This Town” (based on a possibly apocryphal quote from Frank Sinatra)\, and maintaining that feverish intensity even when the tempo drops on songs like the more contemplative “All Who Wander.” Echoes of such barroom saints as the Replacements and the Pogues appear on sing-alongs “Bad Luck Charm” and “Irish Whiskey Pretty Girls\,” but bigger and more mature issues simmer underneath the steamroller swing. \nTickets to see Old 97’s go on sale this Friday\, May 21 at 10:00am at The St. Augustine Amphitheatre Box Office or Ticketmaster.com. Ponte Vedra Concert Hall Box Office remains closed at this time. A friendly reminder that all tickets are digital.
