SUMMARY:Marc Broussard & His Band with guest Kristopher James
DESCRIPTION:“Few modern voices are as powerful as Marc Broussard’s soulful bayou-bred baritone.” – The Washington Times \n“A blue-eyed soul singer with a broad\, soulful voice nicely scraped around the edges. Somewhere between country and soul\, he slipped through the crack which has left him coldly\, and wrongly\, underappreciated.” – The New York Times \nMarc Broussard is an artist with a unique gift of channeling the spirits of classic R&B\, rock and soul into contemporary terms. His father\, Louisiana Hall of Famer guitarist of “The Boogie Kings\,” nurtured Marc’s musical gifts at an early age\, and the vibrant Lafayette\, Louisiana music scene gave Marc the opportunity to practice his craft consistently from childhood through early adulthood. He still lives in Louisiana today. \nAfter releasing a successful independent EP at age 20\, Marc signed a record deal with Island Records. Marc’s song “Home” was successful on radio and catapulted him onto the national touring stage. His music has been placed in may TV shows and movies. Marc released multiple albums with major labels over the next 10 years\, but has recently returned to his independent roots. Being an independent artist allows Marc to release more content and truly tap into his creative spirit. \nMarc released a soul covers album\, appropriately titled Save Our Soul 2\, for charity on September 30\, 2016 and donated 50% of the profits to City of Refuge. The live performance video of the acoustic version of “Cry to Me” from the album has garnered over 5 million views on YouTube. \nMarc’s latest original release\, Easy to Love\, was released on September 15\, 2017. The lead single off the album “Don’t Be Afraid to Call Me” was featured on “Rolling Stone Country” and has received significant airplay on “Sirius XM: The Highway.” Marc continues to tour in support of the album to sold-out crowds around the US and is constantly tapped to play Blues\, Soul and Jazz Festivals. \nFrom the “Friendly City” of Bradenton\, Florida\, alt-folk troubadour Kristopher James channels the balanced line of life\, love\, doubts and hopes in the same vein as “kindred musical spirit to artists like Gavin DeGraw and Amos Lee.” (Creative Loafing Tampa) “James calls to mind such notable acoustic singer/songwriters as Jackson Browne and Jason Isbell\, and the growth he shows … continues to make the case that Kristopher James is perhaps the most interesting local musician on the scene.” (The Bradenton Times)

SUMMARY:moe.
DESCRIPTION:“Do yourself a favor – go see moe. They are firing on all cylinders.” – Live Music Daily \nmoe. is the preeminent progressive rock band on the music scene today. With 20 years of touring and just as many albums under its belt\, the quintet of Al Schnier and Chuck Garvey on guitars and vocals\, Rob Derhak on bass and vocals\, Jim Loughlin on percussion and vibes\, and Vinnie Amico on Drums\, continues to push the standard for performance art. \nCritical acclaim and a solid national and international fan base has built a dedicated following that grows each year. Whether touring across the globe\, headlining music festivals\, or sharing the stage with such celebrated acts as the Allmans\, The Who\, or Robert Plant\, among others\, what keeps moe. at the forefront of the music scene is not only the energy and vitality of their music and songwriting\, but the showmanship in which it is delivered. \nFrom its humble\, inconspicuous beginnings as a local bar band in Buffalo in the late 1980s\, to headlining Radio City Music Hall two years straight on New Year’s Eve\, moe.’s journey has been one of hard work\, perseverance\, and dedication. Their music is clever\, melodic\, refined; their performances are entertaining\, mesmerizing and epic. Critically acclaimed for its songwriting and studio work\, the group’s 2001 studio album\, Dither\, was awarded four stars by Rolling Stone. 2003’s Wormwood received four stars by Blender Magazine. Their two latest efforts\, The Conch and Sticks & Stones\, received rave reviews including Rolling Stone\, Paste\, and Blender magazine. In honor of their 20th Anniversary\, the band released Smash Hits\, Volume 1. Billed as a “Young Person’s Guide to moe.\,” the album features band and fan favorites – some recast in new recordings that showcase the band’s ongoing evolution. \nThe band continues to tour extensively: from San Fran to Amsterdam\, from Tokyo to Toronto\, from Chi Town to Bean Town\, from Austin to Atlanta\, playing and packing venues large and small\, or intimate and grand. Long a featured act at music festivals\, they have performed at Lollapalooza\, Bonnaroo\, Langerado\, and Vegoose\, to name a few; yet made time to promote and perform at their own festivals – Summer Camp\, Snoe.down\, and moe.down. \nBy all accounts\, for this “legendary jam band\,” as Rolling Stone magazine recently described them\, it would be best to keep your eyes on this band and your ears tuned in to their music. Witness history in the making. This is welcome news for the moe. faithful and the band’s ever-expanding fan base. Yet – even better news for the world of rock and roll – moe. has finally come into their own.

SUMMARY:Butterfield Garage December Artist of the Month; Painter Sam Kates
DESCRIPTION:An Artist Talk\, First Friday December 7th at 6pm. is an opportunity to meet the artist hear the behind-the-scenes view of his inspiration and processes \nSam Kates is a painter of coastal scenes reminiscent of old Florida. He describes his current style and techniques as “painterly realism\,” full of detail to document his subjects but very dependent on light and shadows that give his works extraordinary depth and definition. While his pictures are composed on site and reflect actual scenes and boats\, the paintings are created in the studio at his home in St. Augustine\, FL. \nSam retired in 2002 after over three decades as a director of history\, natural science and fine art museums and institutions in Florida\, Tennessee and Alabama. While he is still called upon to jury and judge art shows and festivals\, most of his time is now spent in the studio painting coastal scenes that are reminiscent of the old Florida that was still prevalent during the 1940-50’s when he was a child. He fondly remembers spending summers with his grandparents in New Smyrna Beach where huge sand dunes still exist and fleets of shrimp boats crowded the local docks. \nSketching trips to Cedar Key in 1957 inspired his first paintings of working boats and shorelines.\nHe has been an exhibiting member of The Butterfield Garage Gallery artist co-op for the past ten years and has also shown his paintings at other numerous venues\, galleries and Art Festivals throughout the state. Sam was born in Orlando\, Florida in 1940 and grew up in Gainesville. He is an alumnus of Florida State University.
