SUMMARY:St Augustine Songwriters Festival
DESCRIPTION:Sure you know the songs. You sing them in the car and at work. Some songs make you laugh\, some make you smile\, and some make you cry. Just a simple note or familiar lyric can fast track you back to that first back seat kiss or first hardwood floor dance. Songs create life long memories. What if you could hear it from the creator and learn the inspiration that brought the song to existence? Find out or meet who the song was written about or for. The St. Augustine Songwriters Festival will feature today’s hottest hit songwriters\, legends of yesterday and the shining stars of tomorrow. All at the fantastic stages scattered about the beautiful town of St. Augustine.

SUMMARY:Jo Sinclair Way of BEE-ing
DESCRIPTION:On October 27th from 4-8\, the W.B.TATTER Studio Gallery will present Jo Sinclair Way of BEE-ing. \nJo Sinclair has an interest in ancient art. Encaustics is the art of painting with beeswax\, resin and pigments. The earliest evidence of this medium\, the Roman Fayum Portraits\, were used to adorn and thus identify the mummies of the Ancient Roman deceased in 200AD.\nUsing this art form\, Jo has created the series called Way of Bee-ing.\nSinclair was inspired by the volunteer work of her husband Bo Sterk\, artist/beekeeper\, who had been volunteering throughout Caribbean for about 15 years\, teaching and training the islanders in the best beekeeping practices for sustainable development. Since she is allergic to the bees\, she decided to paint with the wax instead. Working with the beeswax reminds her of hours spent as a young child under the hot summer sun melting Crayola crayons with a small magnifying glass on the sidewalk. Yet now the process involves the adult artist at play. Today\, as one of her mediums\, she continues to BEE in the flow with the art of encaustic painting.\nBees Beyond Borders is a 501 3C non-profit (beesbeyondborders.org) founded by Bo Sterk\, President\, Florida Master Craftsman Beekeeper and President of St. Johns County Beekeepers. the mission is to provide bee biology and bee education and training in best practices of apiary management for sustainable development. With over 20 years of experience\, Bo decided to start BBB in early 2019 due to major budgets cuts in governmental spending so he could continue his work with beekeepers throughout the Caribbean\, especially in Haiti. Besides the raising funds for further mission work throughout the Caribbean\, BBB is presently committed to raise monies to assist the affected beekeepers of the Bahamas for Bahamas Beekeepers Hurricane Relief Fund through CrowdRise or direct donations to Bees Beyond Borders 501 3C.\nCome hear about Bo’s mission work\, Bees Beyond Borders non-profit\, and Bahamas Beekeepers Hurricane Relief Fund. It’s your opportunity to donate to “Save the Bees = Feed the People” during the opening reception event and through the following First Friday for “Way of Bee-ing”\, encaustic mixed-media paintings by Jo Sinclair.\n501 Anastasia Boulevard for more information call 904 9071270
