SUMMARY:Abstract painter Cyndi Horn is Butterfield Garage’s June Featured Artist.
DESCRIPTION:On display will be her newest series of both Cruciform and Minimalist mixed media canvases \nCyndi Horn graduated from Florida State with a degree in graphic design\, most of her career life has ranged from design studios\, advertising agencies and TV broadcast networks\, where she has been recognized on a local and state level with Addy Awards. She painted at a young age for meditation and gratification\, and did not return to fine art until 2014 when she moved from Atlanta to Florida. \nHer design influence provides a strong foundation for her non-objective work. Using color\, line\, shapes\, textures and text in her multi media pieces\, she works intuitively\, allowing her impulses to drive the direction the piece takes. Simplifying and creating a visual rhythm is the underlying esthetic in her work. \nCyndi has become fascinated with using cruciforms as a unifying structure\, in which she divides the canvas into active and calm areas. The intersecting crossovers and adjoining elements captivates the viewers imagination. Her minimalism paintings are stripped down simple composistions that evoke thru color or shape an expansive\, restful moment. Cyndi will be in the gallery all day Sat. June 19 to discuss her work. \nCyndi is a member of SOMMA\, Society of Mixed Media Artists\, and has won several awards in the groups exhibits. She has been a member of Butterfield Garage Gallery for the last two years. Visit us during artwalk June 4th from 11am-9pm to view her paintings. We are are also open 7 days a week from 11-5pm. Free parking is available in front and back of the building.

SUMMARY:Drive-By Truckers Front-Man Patterson Hood
DESCRIPTION:The St. Augustine Amphitheatre\, in partnership with Flying Saucer Presents\, will proudly welcome Drive-By Truckers front-man Patterson Hood to The Backyard Stage on Thursday\, June 24\, 2021 for a limited-capacity concert with distanced seating. Enhanced safety measures and protocols are in place\, including contactless digital ticketing\, face covering requirements\, and mobile ordering for concessions. Tickets for An Evening with Patterson Hood go on sale this Friday\, April 16 at 10:00am at the venue Box Office or online at Ticketmaster.com. The Backyard Stage is proudly presented by Intuition Ale Works. \nPatterson Hood is a prolific writer and performer whose character-driven stories are packed with political subtext. He is best known as front-man\, singer\, songwriter and guitar player for the critically acclaimed rock and roll band Drive-By Truckers\, but is also a writer of essays\, columns and short stories. \nIn addition to his work with Drive-By Truckers\, Patterson has amassed three solo albums and co-produced or played on additional albums by Bettye LaVette\, Booker T. Jones and The Dexateens. \nAlabama is near to Hood’s heart\, being born in Florence and raised in the Muscle Shoals area. He attended The University of Northern Alabama before he moved to Athens\, Georgia where he lived for twenty-one years. \nWhen he relocated to Athens at age 30\, he “felt like he had died and gone to heaven.” Athens is where Drive-By Truckers was born\, and where Patterson really hit his stride. \nDrive-By Truckers have released 13 albums and played over 2\,000 shows in the past nineteen years. They also released a 35-song\, career-spanning box set in 2015 that was recorded live at The Fillmore in San Francisco. American Band\, their most recent album released in the height of election season on September 30\, 2016\, takes their political undertones much closer to the surface than ever before. \nPraises have rolled in for American Band since its release. NPR has claimed it to be one of the best albums yet from Drive-By Truckers\, deeming it “unapologetically progressive” and “a poignant take on what it means to be an American in a time when uncertainty and fear are omnipresent.” Rolling Stone raves\, “American Band comes from the very distinct perspective of a group that remains burdened by\, and reckoning with\, its own bloody southern history.” The record has been also been recognized on several 2016 year-end lists including The Los Angeles Times\, Chicago Tribune\, Rolling Stone\, NPR\, Uncut\, and Entertainment Weekly. \nTickets for An Evening with Patterson Hood go on sale this Friday\, April 16 at 10:00am at The St. Augustine Amphitheatre Box Office and online at Ticketmaster.com. Tickets are sold in pre-configured pods (groupings) ranging from two to six seats per pod. Each pod is at least six feet from one to the next\, and all seats within the pod must be purchased together. Additionally\, all tickets are digital. The St. Augustine Amphitheatre Box Office will be open on Fridays from 10:00am-6:00pm and Saturdays from 8:30am-12:30pm\, and will only accept payment via debit or credit card. The Backyard Stage is proudly presented by Intuition Ale Works. \nSHOW: An Evening with Patterson Hood\nVENUE: Backyard Stage at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre\nDATE: Thursday\, June 24\, 2021\nTIME: Doors: 6:00PM / Show: 7:00PM \nTICKET PRICE: Tickets Ranging from $54.00 – $94.00\nWEBSITES: www.pattersonhood.com; www.theamp.com\nMEDIA CONTACT: Ryan Hall\, Marketing and Promotions Specialist \nrhall@sjcfl.us / (904) 209-3753
