It was home to the first legally sanctioned free Black community in North America! \nAs you step onto the Freedom Trail\, you enter the year 1738. You’re drawn into a dangerous world where freedom seekers flee from enslavement on English plantations\, hoping to live as free men\, women\, and children at Fort Mose. \nThe Flight to Freedom event is open to the general public at no cost. DESCRIPTION:St. Augustine’s second annual Brewers’ Festival will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday\, May 8\, 20201 at the beautiful Fountain of Youth Archeological Park\, 11 Magnolia Ave. The festival will include free tastings from 20+ regional breweries\, local food trucks\, face painting and live music; all while enjoying one of St. Augustine’s most scenic and historical locations. Tickets will be available starting March 1 at stabrewersfest.com \n“We are focused on smaller independent breweries in and around our region. Each attending brewery is encouraged to not only bring a unique offering but a true brewery representative to share insights to their creations and answer all of your questions. This is a great opportunity to try small batch beers right in your backyard\,” said organizers. \nIn addition to the regional brewers\, four of St. Augustine’s breweries will be part of the event — Bog Brewing Company\, Dog Rose Brewing Co.\, Ancient City Brewing and Old Coast Ales. \nUnlimited beer tastings from the craft breweries will be the highlight of the second annual St. Augustine Brewers’ Fest. Each ticketholder will receive a commemorative 6-ounce tasting glass. \nFood will be available from three favorite local trucks — Wingin’ It\, Funkadelic\, and El Agave Azul. Being true to a community event\, family-friendly activities include face painting and plenty of space for kids to run around. Merchandise for sale during the event will include T-shirts\, koozies\, and hats\, all created by Skinny Lizard T-shirt Printers. . and Keepers of the Coast will sponsor a water bottle refill station. \nGeneral admission is $40 in advance and $45 the day of the event. A limited number of VIP tickets at $100 each will be available in advance. VIP tickets include guaranteed on-site parking\, access to the climate-controlled pavilion\, private restrooms\, a catered buffet\, a festival tasting glass\, and full festival access. DESCRIPTION:First Coast Opera and A Classic Theatre are collaborating to bring northeast Florida audiences an exciting new production which includes a world premiere! The two companies will present seven performances of Cox and Box and Penelope Ann’s Revenge\, two British farce operettas\, during the Romanza Festivale of the Arts in May. Show times are 7:30 p.m. May 4-8; and 2 p.m. May 8-9 at the Lincolnville Museum and Cultural Center in historic St. Augustine\, Florida. Tickets can be purchased online at www.aclassictheatre.org/tickets \nComposed by Arthur Sullivan\, of Gilbert and Sullivan fame\, Cox and Box is a Victorian farce in which two gentlemen unknowingly rent and live in the same apartment. When the landlord’s ruse is uncovered\, Mr. Cox and Mr. Box discover that they share other things\, including a past fiancée\, Penelope Ann. \nThe story continues\, ten years later\, in Penelope Ann’s Revenge\, a sequel by First Coast Opera Artistic Director Curtis Tucker and Nelson Sheeley\, receiving its world premiere. In the new operetta\, Penelope Ann returns to put the two men in their proper places. Apparent conflict turns to happy ending with a few topsy-turvyt wists throughout. \nThe cast consists of Tyler Putnam as Cox\, Curtis Tucker as Box\, Jason Whitfield as Bouncer\, Sarah Nordin as Lydia and Catherine Ortega Spitzer as Penelope.
