SUMMARY:PAM Jam comes to Butterfield Garage
DESCRIPTION:During the entire month of November the gallery will feature 17 poet/artist pairs from the inaugural PAM Jam 2020. A year ago Ancient City poets teamed up with artists from Butterfield Garage to work together and create art based on each others work. The resulting poems and works of art will be displayed together\, complete with QR code access to multi media videos of the various collaborations put to music by local musicians. \nFor many of the participants\, this cross disciplinary was a first. The “how” to approach the process was purposely undefined\, encouraging each pair to explore uniquely\, and has opened new creative pathways for many of the artists. Musicians were included at the end to explore introducing a third element\, with the intention of having a PAM Jam live event to celebrate and present the creative results of all three. \nDue to Covid concerns\, the live performances and readings have been moved online. The poetry and art is on display at the gallery\, and the three elements have been showcased in 18 unique videos that can be accessed with any smart phone in the gallery or on PAMJam’s website: https://pam-jam.com/st-augustine/staipamjam/ \nAncient City Poets posted footage of the poets reading live during their virtual October poetry reading on the Ancient City Poets YouTube Channel. The October 2020 readings are the poems created for PAM Jam. The link to listen is https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-q1EFSh27tyqmGpiSAu4Vw. \nThis unique exhibit will be on view the entire month of November from 11:00am – 5:00pm everyday at Butterfield Garage Gallery. Butterfield is located at 137 King Street\, St. Augustine\, Florida. They will be open for First Friday. \nFeatured Image: \nMorning air\nthe opportunity to\nlet it sink in\n—by Michael Henry Lee \nimage moon viewing by Nancy Hamlin-Vogler

SUMMARY:La Vie En Bleu: The Life & Art of Marguerite Castaing
DESCRIPTION:Born in 1900 in southern France to a family of painters\, Marguerite Castaing had a long career as an artist. At 16 she became a member of the French Salon where she exhibited for over two decades. While living in Paris\, she studied under renowned artists Paul Albert Laurens and Pierre Bonnard\, and she rubbed shoulders with influential writers\, collectors\, and critics like Pulitzer Prize winner Louis Bromfield. Marguerite’s work\, Impressionistic in style\, elicits passion and precision. The artist was inspired by the people and places that surrounded her\, from family and friends to the rolling landscapes of southern France\, and eventually the colorful seasons of New England. On display for the first time in over a decade\, this exhibition of her work showcases over 80 drawings\, paintings and pastels detailing her life as a passionate female artist throughout the 20th Century.

SUMMARY:Meet the Artist – Jewelry Maker Maureen Crescenzo
DESCRIPTION:Jewelry maker Maureen Crescenzo will be in the gallery all day during First Friday to discuss her work. Stop by to see her newest pieces\, and learn the stories behind the antique beads they contain. Her jewelry is featured the entire month of November. \nIt started with a bead 60 years ago… that lead to a collection… and became a life long passion. As a young child Maureen Crescenzo was given a natural cut amethyst stone by a neighbor who ran an antique store. Her fascination prompted more gifts of small stones and beads\, and soon young Maureen was taking apart unwanted costume jewelry for the beads. Her collection grew into a neighborhood interest\, other children began collecting and trading beads with Maureen. Soon she was creating jewelry of her own\, and finding small venues to display and sell. Her on-going love of beads has lead to a life of searching out unique and rare specimens to design with. The southwestern influence comes from her discovery and love of Native American Art.\n\n\nMaureen’s pieces incorporate fine gemstones\, chains\, fine leathers and especially unique ancient beads from the world over. Her collection highlights plaited leather with embedded stones and various hanging centerpieces creating one of a kind tribal inspired adornments. Many pieces are length adjustable and some can morph into an entirely different design. Truly original\, nothing faux about it. No two pieces of her hand crafted jewelry is alike\, and has a style unique to Maureen.
